Hi, I am going up to Hull this Saturday, primarily to watch the footie but also to have a look at the shops before the game.
Any suggestions for best shopping - clothes, shoes etc etc.
Thanks

I guess when you live near a city like Hull you do not appreciate its shopping. I would rather go for a ride to York than go shopping in Hull, but that is not very helpful.
There are two shopping malls in Hull city centre. Prospect Centre, which is off Ferensway, and Princes Quay, which is the one with a Disney Store. A third one is being built at the moment but that is not very helpful either!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the responses I will have a look when I get there.
I have been to York and I agree it is nice but need to be close to the football ground so we don't miss kick off as it would be my fault if we went somewhere else and was late getting to the game ;)

Hi
I live in Hull and I can only agree with what Ursula says really! We don't have a fantastic choice of shops, but we're getting there - slowly!!!!???:confused2
The City Centre is in the middle of undergoing major refurbishment as there is a new shopping complex currently being built, but you can walk around the rest of the main town centre pretty easily as the majority is pedestrianised and most of the roads are one-way.
The KC Stadium is not too far away from the town centre, but obviously the roads & parking gets pretty busy near there on match days.
If you're in a car, there are always the retail parks, such as Kingston Retail Park (next to the city centre; behind Princes Quay Shopping Centre) and St Andrew's Quay which is just off Clive Sullivan Way, but as previously said, they're not really within easy walking distance.
Enjoy!:D

I've been to the retail park near the ice rink - nothing very spectacular but filled an hour or two during a rather long skating competition. I also noticed a retail park just off the main road into Hull (along the river) but I didn't actually visit.

If you are looking for bargains Hammonds top floor is the clearance for all the House of Fraser stores and you can get some amazing bargains
I'm from Hull too - the city centre is ok for shopping - Prince's Quay is the most modern shopping centre - the retail park on the main carriageway into Hull is mainly electrical and furniture - as Carol says KC stadium isn't too far from Hull centre -there is also Prospect Centre next to Debenhams and near Hammonds.
My fashion concious teen likes Primark for cheap trendy shoes and stuff - that's in Princes Quay.
Would be better if the new St.Stephens Square was open - thats supposed to be good...
My DH (Sweeney_Todd ) and son will be there, shouting for the Tigers...:D

Having lived in Hull for 10 years i would say skip the shopping and visit the Deep instead, well worth the visit.
Most of the shops in Hull are your general run of the mill chain stores, and unless it's changed it doesn't really have a street cafe type culture to it, it's literally just shops. If you want something designer there is a shop called Bolo on saville street (if it's still there that is) which has some nice stuff in.
You can walk to the centre from the KC stadium, or you can jump on the park and ride bus. If you are driving there I would suggest parking at priory park park and ride and then get the bus which goes past the stadium and all the way to the centre.
