Could anyone commend a show for me to go to.
I am thinking
Evita,
Sound of music
or
Wicked.
I can get the 3rd row to Evita, which show is the best to see any ideas?

One of my work colleuegues went to Wicked last week and loved it so much, she wants to go again.
One of my favourites is Blood Brothers, though really want to see sound of Music and Mama Mia. Also love everyhting else possible, they are all great in their own way!

I haven't seen Wicked, but am gonna try to get some tickets to a Sunday show whilst in NYC - it's Superbowl Sunday so hopefully the theatres could be less busy!
Evita and Wicked both sound fantastic, Sound of Music doesn't really appeal to me to be honest. Personally when i go to see a musical, i prefer to be in the Grand/Royal Circle (first level up) rather than the stalls, i feel you get more of an overview of the whole show and dance routines etc. But that's just my personal preference!

They're totally different musicals, EGG, so it's hard to judge. I haven't seen the West End versions of Evita or Sound of Music (though hoping to get tickets soon to SoM), but I have seen Wicked and I loved it. It is very modern and has some great music, it is also very funny in places. I would recommend it to anyone, but it depends what kind of evening you want really.
No help whatsoever, sorry :D

evita is supposed to be amazing, the clips ive seen of it look really good. sound of music - ive seen clips of it on things such as children in need and royal variety and didnt think it looked that great - and i watched the maria program and everything! ive seen wicked twice, and am going again in march and it just blows my mind every time. if you love the wizard of oz, you'll love it. if you look on broadwayworld.com there are video trailers of the shows. but my vote is for wicked, without a doubt!

Off to Evita on 3rd March.
Go to see Wicked - it's absolutely brilliant and I'd see it again tomorrow if I could. Not seen the other two so can't help there.
Beware of sitting in the 3rd row for anything though as you could get neck ache from looking up at the stage! :confused2

I took my Dd to see SoM last month. It was a good show but Lesley Garrett absolutely steals the show. She got a standing ovation and has a voice that sends a tingle down your spine. I'd see it again just to hear Lesley.

I went to the opening night of Evita and loved it, would totally recomend. EGG there is an Argentinian resturant around the corner from Le Meridian if you fancy making it a themed night.

Oh thanks, I used to have a steakhouse and know that Argentine steak is the best...cheers.
My favourite is still Les Miserables - trully excellent if you have not seen it.

the only show ive seen up there was we will rock you at the dominion. it was brilliant funny too
EGG it's in Swallow Street and it's called the Gaucho-Grill (Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link) There are a few of them, but this one is closest.
Gaucho Grill is wicked, there's one opposite where i work in Chancery Lane, they also do some fab Argentinian wines too :)

Saw Sound of Music last week - superb show, and I have never seen the film so by no means an enthusiast.
FWIW, I would not want to sit in row 3 of the stalls. Sometimes you need to be further back to take everything in.
Whenever I sit in the stalls in any of the west end shows I always try to get row J or behind (but not too far). I went to see Phantom with a ticket from the ticket booth in Leicester Square and got row 1.
There are a few problems sitting that close to the stage:
- You are on top of the orchestra which means that sometimes you get more orchestra than singing (not always what you want)
- You are always looking up because your chin is level with the stage (if you are lucky) and if you didn't look up you would just see ankles.
- You run the risk of being showered when one of the main characters stands about 6 foot away belting out a song.
But
Would I sit there again if I could get a ticket now? YOU BET :spin:
I'm another Blood Brothers fan and I have lost count of the number of times I have seen it but I think its an acquired taste because I have recommended it to a few people who have not enjoyed it.
