Normally I'd have planned out my days to a T - I have managed to sort out 1 day so far out of a 3 day trip, but due to dissertation and kids etc I just haven't got the time at the mo to go ploughing through all my guidebooks 0 got the Brits guide and Wallpaper guide.
Can anyone inspire me with things to do or I'll end up spending all my time wandering around aimlessly again - sigh
And does anyone know if Macy's have a personal Shopper service and if you need to shop - I need to go in big time to spend about $3-400 on kids clothes for the next year (going to declare it all at customs - no worries there - lol)but desperately need to update all their wardrobes as I've been saving up for this splurge and they're growing out of their stuff fast now!!!
TIA

Try Century 21 for discounted designer and kids clothes, opposite Ground Zero (Twin Towers)

Sports fan? If so, why not do the tour of Madison sq. garden? Its relatively cheap($10-$15 p.p. i think), and the 2 times we have done it, the arena has been layed out for basketball and the circus. Also the circle line boat trip around Manhatten is a great way to spend a lazy couple of hours, and theres plenty to see.
Hear, hear for Macy's and Century 21 for kids clothes.
What about walking over the Brooklyn Bridge- great piece of architecture and good views. Gotta do a trip up The Empire State Building if you don't mind heights. Grand Central Station is worth a look if you are passing - the location of SOOOO many movies - it even has shops!
Plus for some piece and quiet you could take a stroll through Central Park.
For late night shopping, try the Virgin Megastore on Time Square and while you are there - take in a show!!
have fun! :wavey:
Can't believe I spelt 'peace' as 'piece' in that last post - damn!

Top of the rock is my tip it has the best view of both ESB and central park without the queues of the ESB, and its near all the shops at rockerfellar plaza, so you dont feel as if you are missing out.
if you have been to NYC before have you considered going out of the city to woodbury common outlet it is huge and has over 200 outlet stores. they run coach trips daily I think.
We went further down, the city and found some smaller unique stores around grenwich village and tribecca, which were a change from the bigger department stores with some unusual stuff.
I love NYC hope you have a great time.

Yep - definitely going to do Woodbury common- I have also contacted Macy's and they've given me the number for the personal shopper service - i just can't be A*sed hauling around loads of clothes all over the place and then struggling to the till - when I can get some other person to do it for me - LOL
Our hotel (Pennsylvania - yuk - check it out on trip advisor) is nearly opposite the Rockefeller and I think we're going to do that.I'm also impregnating a bed liner with DEET after reading reviews of that hotel - gahh.
Definietly into shopping and eating rather than sports though - I was going to do a gourmet walking tour but no-one else is interested in it and I don't really want to be a billy-no-mates - LOL.
