I had P&O in which is also princess cruise lines, etc They are clamping down on non UK residents booking cruises while in florida. I did it once with a Disney Cruise and did get some questions asked.
Recently we costed up a cruise for someone and we did the flight seperate from the cruise and saved them over £400 per person.
We know get extra discounts etc off certain cruises and they work out cheaper from the UK

If want to book with Disney Cruise, try contact Dreams Unlimited as they are very good with it. (www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com)
I booked with DU separate with flights etc.
I booked again with DU for Medi. Cruise

You should be able to book direct with most cruise specialist TAs in the US via their websites,so you don't actually need to book whilst 'out there' - there is nothing wrong with this........ and makes alot of sense given the exchange rates !
Try Allseastravel, Cruisecritic, Walmart, Expedia, Dreamsunlimited, Costco...to name but a few...
PS pay with a Nationwide Credit card to maximise your exchange rate deal.

I am not sure about any restrictions etc.that Kim mentioned as I have no personal experience.
However, my neighbours in Florida always book their cruises through Walmart as they said they are the cheapest around. It may be that you have to have a registered US address to book, but probably worth having a look to compare prices if nothing else.

Majority now want a US address for the tickets and also due to credit card fraud they are clamping down.
I personally have a US bank account and wanted some internal flights paying on a US bank account and they would not accept the card I had to produce it at check in and they wanted all the ID address etc.
Walmart will not accept overseas addresses for and card it has to have a US address.
Majority of us Travel agents now get big kick backs to enable us to complete againt the dollar exchange rate so can discount the cruises also you will then get your tickets before you arrive.
You can go down to the docks the day of a ships departure and pick up good deals but then it all depends on availability
