We've booked Pop Century thru TCD for our hols. We have thought about upgrading to one of the moderates. Can anyone tell me the most cost effective route? I was thinking of leaving my booking as it is and then trying to get a deal from one of the hotels (maybe CBR or POFQ) when we arrive. Any thoughts?

I've got no experience of this, I'm afraid. I'm not sure how easy (or cheap) it would be to do once there since your room might be booked as part of a package.

I'd start with TCD and see how they want and take it from there.

Agree with Bozza - give TCD a ring it wont do any harm whatever you decide to do - Hope it works out

The 'policy' is that you will have to pay the differece between what was paid for the room you leave (not the rack rate) and the rack rate of the new room. TCD will pay below rack rate, so it can work out at as more. Snoitimes they may give you a break and charge less, but that is far from guaranteed. So I would also say call TCD and see hat they say.

TCD have given me a "reasonable" quote to upgrade. Not sure on whether to go for it or hang on. I am favouring POFQ. Anyone stayed there?

POFQ is lovely, if you've had a reasonable offer on an upgrade then I'd take it. That way you know exactly what you are spending before you go and that your room is guaranteed and you can look forward to staying there. If you wait until you arrive there may not be availability or you could pay a lot more, both of which would be disappointing.
