I was'nt impressed with Century 21 at all, the shelves were too crowded and there were just racks and racks of the same things in different sizes and colours, we left after about 10 mins......

Dont forget to go to customer services with your passport or drivers licence in Macy's and Bloomingdales and get your discount card;) .

Yeah, i'm with Suzie, i hated Century 21, too messy, like a jumble sale! We only stayed there about 10 minutes. Macy's is much better, and if you are going Woodbury Common, i'd give Century 21 a miss altogether.

You might find you won't eat lunch, we never did, too full on the big breakfasts! I don't think i've ever eaten lunch whilst in the US actually! *lol*

I didn't like Century 21 either. Again it was like a jumble sale, stayed for 20 minutes and then left, never bought a thing.

I also vote against century 21, a bit like TKMaxx on acid, but its worth going to have a runmmage in the sunglasses and handbags on the bottom floor not impressed with the clothes. BUT got a very nice hilfiger handbag for $9 and some guess sunglasses for $5 what can i say but would not bother with teh rest of the clothes .

Ahh - but I'm just going for the shoes in the basement!!!!LOL:pgig: :pgig:

Trust me, there are NO decent shoes in the basement, we looked, and i love shoes!

Best place for shoe shopping is 6th St & 8th Ave, get the subway to 14th St (the A,C,E or L trains), walk down to 6th St and walk all the way along 6th St, loads of shoe stores, and lots of them were having sales when i was there. This area is SoHo, and there are loads of funky boutiques here. Walk along 6th St, till you hit Broadway, turn right into Broadway and continue along, you will find lots of the big stores here such as Guess, Bloomingdales, Victoria Secret, David Z (only store in Manhattan to still have Ugg boots!), Kenneth Cole, Levis etc, you will hit Canal St, after walking along Broadway for about 15 minutes. Canal St is famous for it's fake designer bags... brilliant copies for a fraction of the price, if you are into that kinda thing.

I was given these tips by a Brit who has lived in NY for 10 years, and i have to say, i probably won't shop anywhere else in NYC now (apart from Macys!). Try it if you have time, and let me know what you think.

Has anyone been to jersey gardens outlets? And if so, how does this compare with woodbury common?

ukdiva

I have, it's nowhere near as big as Woodbury Commons, if you want to do serious outlet shopping then Woodbury Commons is the place to go! Jersey Gardens doesn't have all the big name outlets that Woodbury Commons does.

I would recommend Joe's Shanghai on Pell Street (I think) for their soup dumplings if you fancy a chinese "canteen"!! Fabulous place! xx
