DH is very keen on going this summer, not too sure myself, has anyone been there, what did you think? Thinking of going August, do you need vacinations?
thanks

We went last April just for a week. I was very apprehensive but it was absolutely fantastic!
We stayed at the Movenpick Casino in Naama Bay. Lovely hotel right in the centre of Sharm.
The snorkelling is incredible. Never thought I'd see so much so close!
It was up to 36 degrees in April so summer will be very very very hot! You need to drink water constantly and be careful with what you eat and use handwash all the time.
We are actually going back for 10nts to the same hotel for our honeymoon in April this year.
What are your reservations?

We did have vaccinations. I think you should definitely get them. I think it is:
Tetanus needs to be up to date
Hepatitis A
Typhoid
The last 2 are in one so just the one jab. No side effects.
Its worth it. Injections don't hurt and I'm a total wimp!
Its a fab place. My only concern would be the heat.

DS and DD are ok with the heat, have been Turkey in August. They both drink plenty of water and are water babies, am looking at either the new holiday village with First Choice, not completed yet? this does concern me, but has everying geared towards kids, or another one will look up the name and post it perhaps you may have heard of it. Thanks Anna for reassuring me about the vacinations.

LTI - Grand Azure Resort, that the other one we are looking at. Both of these are with First Choice? Has anyone else been with kids and did you enjoy it?

Have heard of it but I know nothing about it. The Movenpick Golf http://www.moevenpick-hotels.com/hotels/Sharm_El_Sheikh_Golf_Resort/welcome.htm may be good for you as it has a nice pool complex.

Hi Anna that looks lovely, but would you need to book direct or do any UK travel companies go there?

Thomson are a really good operator for Sharm. They do loads of hotels including the one i mentioned.

thanks Anna, think I will look tomorrow on Thomson, feel all a bit stressed out with it all. Really want AI but don't want to be surrounded by (well have you seen the new tv programme Benidorm) but really don't want to sound horrible!

Me and dbf went to Sharm a couple of years back and had a great time. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency which was a little pricy but lovely. As previously mentioned, the snorkling is excellent, but there is not a great deal else to do.
A good operator to check out is Longwoods Holidays as they specialise in the area, and we found them extremely competitive.
Regarding jabs, I am extremely needle phobic and didn't bother as I'm sure they weren't necessary.

We stayed at the Grand Azure for a week in August 2003 and had a wonderful time!
The hotel and grounds are gorgeous and we had one of the largest rooms we have ever stayed in! One handy tip is not to wait for the coach transfer from the airport but to take a taxi instead! It only took about 10 minutes to get to the hotel and as we were first to check in we were given a gorgeous patio room overlooking the pool! We were shown to our room, had a cocktail and were in the pool before the coach transfer turned up! DD (7 at the time) loved the pool and spent some time in the kids club, which she really enjoyed!
We were AI and thought the food choices were fantastic, especially the themed nights!
The only thing i will say is that it was very, very hot! I love the sun and have been to the Caribbean ect many, many times but nothing prepared me for the Egyptian heat in August!
We had a wonderful time and would definately go back again!
We went to Sharm in November and had a fantastic time. We stayed at the Mirabel Park which had just opened 2 weeks before we went, it's a beautiful hotel. My friend stayed at the Grand Azure and she said it was lovely and that they would stay there again.
We had our vaccinations and they didnt hurt.
We were told not to take Immodium as it wouldn't work there but to get something from the chemist out there...no need, we were both fine so when people tell you that you will most certainly get an upset tummy, don't listen. We had ice in our drinks and we ate the salad... I've had a worse tummy in Spain!!.
