I didn't think that you could do discovery cove without the dolphin swim. We swam in 2005 (check out photo) and thought we would do DC last year without the dolphion swim but they wouldn't let us book unless someone was swimming with dolphins. We would love to go again for the all the other areas but are not bothered about the dolphin swim.

We are going to Florida for the first time in April. We have booked Discovery Cove. We are all swimming with the Dolphins apart from my mum. Will she be able to watch us though?

yes she will, each group of 8 or so people are allocated to a dolphin and trainer in a seperate part of the dolphin lagoon and other family members can watch from the shoreline just behind and take photos etc. Your mum will then be able to join in with all the other activities available if she wants to

Last time I let my nephew and Dad swim with the dolphins, I preferred to snorkle with the fishes. Nephew was 6.5 then and not a good swimmer but he let the dolphin take him for a ride.
I love the snorkeling part best to be honest.

Even if you are not a strong swimmer they supply life jackets so everyone can do it. Although I wish I had not bothered as you are only in the deep bit for about a minute or so and I could have managed easily managed. The lifejacket spolit the photos a bit (I still bought loads!) For most of the time you are in a shallow bit with your feet on the floor, you only go out into the deep for the bit when the dolphin pulls you. You just can't do DC without the swim!!!:omg:

Toddy 17-you can do DC without the Dolphin Swim but you cannot book it online(it will only let you book with a minimum of 1 swim). You just need to telephone them to book.

Thanks, we'll give them a ring and check it out. Last time we went there were 7 of us who all swam with the dolphins as one group. This time only DH and I going so not bothered about the swim.

Hi - we did the dolphin swim last year. There was 11 of us and we had been booked into 3 separate groups groups of 6, 4 and 1. We did all want to swim together. We asked for the groups to be changed, they were changed to a 7 and a 4 with 4 children being left without an adult. We asked again and eventually we were allowed to swim as a group of 11 as the trainer didn't mind a larger group. We all wanted to be together as we had booked a birthday package and wanted everyone to be in the video and photographs. As it is an expensive day we were expecting to purchase the video (well DVD) as a keepsake. The way the dophin experience is set up it is difficult for non swimmers to take photos from the beach. All in all it was a great day, I would avise you all to turn up together to register for your swim so you can make sure that your party is not being split up in a way that you are not happy with as it does tend to spoil things for everyone when you are trying to make last minute changes the way we had to do
