Here we are 3 days left & hubby has gone down with food poisening or
gastroenteritis, we're hoping he'll recover a bit tomorrow but if not we'll need to call a doctor. I've found a list of hospitals at our villa but no doctors, who should we call? I dont know how it works here.
I hope he's well enough to travel by the weekend, as the other driver in our
party goes home tomorrow.
Any advice would be welcome.:(
Suggest you call your insurance company and they will refer you to their chosen medic. I take it you have tried the usual things like Diocalm?

Your best bet might be one of the walk-in medical centres, but your insurance company will advise what to do. Consultation fees are payable up front along with any fees for bloodwork and medication, but your insurer may contact them to arrange payment direct or you might have to pay and claim the costs back.
A visit to the pharmacy might be worth a try first if you haven't already done this as many more medicines are available over the counter in the US than at home.
Hope he feels better soon, what a horrible thing to get on holiday.

Thanks, how sensible, why didnt I think of that, I must be getting in a flap.
We havent tried any meds yet, we thought if its food poisioning its best to let nature take its course to start with.

Pharmacy first would be my advise - hope your dh gets better soon
Try these,
East Coast Medical Network 001 407 648 5252.
I used these for a doctor call out in 2005. Charged about $250.00

Immodiums are BRILLIANT! Take two at first..... I never travel without them and they are great to have in the house. Wouldn't be without them now... saved many a day.

I always think that if you've got a bug it's better to let it pass through rather than stop it coming out! Just take plenty of fluids as dehydration can make you feel worse.

I would normally agree with you there... but having got my own gastroenterologist (long story... IBS) I asked him about this and he said that it is perfectly fine to take them as soon as...... the bacteria doesn't stay IN you if you take them. So I do take them and it works for me.

Hi,
Hope your hubby is feeling better by now. If not we used the walk in centre at Formosa Gardens which was good. The Americans don't use doctors for house calls as much as we do because it's so expensive but the Pharmacists at Walmart or Walgreens etc are very helpful.

Thankyou to all who sent advice.
Hubby began to recover before I called the doctor, but the next day my
8 y o son got a nasty ear infection & double conjunctivitus after going to
blizzard beach. So we had to call the Dr after all! Glad it was at the end of the holiday!

Wow kitty how stressful was the end of your holiday? Hope they are all better now  My ds2 got an ear infection at the end of a holiday to Cyprus the other year, not very nice flight home for him :(
