Hi
As some of you may know we are going on our first trip in december and i have been reading that some people do not take much in the way of clothing and buy some out there!!
We will be in orlando for 3 weeks so will need a few changes and maybe even some laundry while there :)
Does anyone have any links etc to any of the large stores to see what they sell and at what prices!!
I will need a couple of pairs of nike trainers by then but need to get an idea of prices etc!!
Also what about shampoo and shower gel etc is it better to buy when there to save on weight in bags going over?
Any shopping tips will be great :)
Thanks shane

We take travel sizes of toiletries just for the first night so we can have a shower and freshen up when we get there and then go and buy the full size ones the next day from Walgreens or Walmart.
We only take one pair of trainers each and normally wear them to travel in and dump them over there when we get a new pair.

Hi
We're going for three weeks too and i am only packing 5 days worth of clothes for each of us (except maybe ill take more underwear:blush: ). We'll be taking a suitcase each (4 in total), i know we wont be able to resist the WDW tee shirts as well as the bargains in the shopping malls so will need to have the cases as light as possible going.
In regards to toiletries etc i shall buy them here and if theres anything left at the end of our holiday i shall just bin the remains.

We do pretty much the same as Lorraine. Sorry I cant help with prices of the nikes but we got a fantastic deal on reebok for the kids two years ago. It depends if you like to shop. We only allocate a couple of days in a fortnight to shopping as I truely hate it - passionately! But if you like it then you will love whats available and with a bit of shopping around you can buy some real bargains. We also dump all the toiletries on the way back to to save on weight.

Yes, snap . . I just take a toothbrush and small tube of paste . . use the hotel shampoo and soap etc first night and then buy all my toiletries from WalMart - ever so cheap and good quality, and saves weight etc when travelling.
Same for clothes really - everything is very cheap over there, at least half of what you pay over here, but there are even cheaper bargains too.
I've just bought K Swiss and Ecco trainers for £20 each and managed to find a pair of Teva sandals for £9. Designer jeans (Diesel, Hugo Boss etc are half price), while levi's and wranglers etc are about £18. Nike's and reebok's are very cheap and there are many places that sell them.
They had fake Crocs in WalMart for $8 (that's just over £4).
If you need an extra suitcase to come home with - they're cheap too !

I found that most things are in $ what we would pay in £, eg £50 pair of trainers would be about $50.
Dont forget to take your passport to customer services in Macys and Bloomingdales to get your 11% discount card.;)

Hi...Before we bought the villa everytime we went out we took basic stuff as went to walmart and walgreens as Lorraine said for essentials and spent the first full day looking arround the area and shopping, if you just want cheep cloths as in underware and socks then walmart as the outlet malls are best for jeans trainers tops etc.
If you are in a hotel then you get the basic soap and shampoo for the freshen up shower, as its an afternoon landing we always go straight to accomodation dump the bags and freshen up then go to Downtown Disney for quick bite to eat and a Ghiradelli milk shake then back to accomodation for a snooze as you never normaly sleep well first night as you are so hyped up for you holiday.

I take a pair of flip flops/good park walking shoes and an old pair of trainers, which never come home with me. (Plus last year i took a lovely pair of really uncomfortable wedges that weighed about 1kg, they never came out the case!).
We take 1 bottle of shower gel and smaller hair shampoo and conditioner, then if we run out we just buy some more, any brand will do as long as its a good conditioner.
We always take enough suntan lotion for the two weeks, but i know some people buy theirs when they arrive.
Trainer costs depend on make/style etc, but a pair of Reebok Classics are approx $30
Depending on where you are staying there is usually a Walmart/Publix not very far off where you can get any bits you may need.
Last year i took 14 of everything and only worn half of it as i washed!!
Not sure what the weather is like in Dec but i am planning to take with me for Sept 7-t-shirts/strappy tops, 7 pair shorts\short skirts for day wear. 7 evening tops 7 evening pants/skirts and a nice dress for a special evening. Yea Right (if you believe that you will believe anything!!!)

So what do most people pack for a trip with the intention of buying more while there?
Also is it a problem taking say one case ot and bringing 3 back ?
i pack some old t-shirts which end up in the bin and a few clothes but i do take one suitcase inside another for filling up with shopping on the way back. we also got some of those vacum bags that squash the clothes down smaller from the as seen on tv informercial shops in the outlets, the ones we got don't need a hoover to suck out the air so all the new stuff i buy fits in the cases

There are 4 of us and I normally pack about 4/5 days worth of clothes and then wash whenever needed plus buy new clothes to wear as well. We normally take our toothpaste with us and buy the rest of the toiletries from Walmart. Our 3 cases only way 10-12 kgs on the way out but on the way back we have an extra case and holdall filled with Reese's, M & M's, cake mixes, anything and everything.
We have never been questioned about the cases but have to cut down on the weight next time, last time with VH we still had the old luggage allowance of 2x32kgs each.

Any of the laundrette's will be suitable for you :D. They're all spotlessly clean and you can buy the small, single wash boxes of detergent at the laundrette.
