Hi im looking for some inspiriation
Off to Orlando again in November and this holiday ive got some newbies with me. Sister, her Dh and 2 kids and im taking my MIL with me too as a surprise.
Doing a rough guide to where we want to eat etc, cant ask sister for input etc as they are not "disney daft" as they call it and will eat anywhere, go anywhere. Left it up to me. In saying that though i need to please but with sisters budget cant eat to expensive every night, character meals etc SOOOOO heres where you lot come in, i hope ! :erm:
Ive got down a couple of places like Prime Time Cafe, Crystal Palace, Hoop de Hoo, Bahama Breeze and possibly Spoodles and def a must is Johnny Buffets Margaritaville at City Walk (love it here)
I know there is Golden Corral, ponderosa etc for cheapness and we will do a couple of breakfasts here but i dont want to visit here for dinner. DH loves it (says a lot for my home cooking :tounge: ) but i just cant eat in these places. Not fussy or anything but just got a thing about buffets.
What im looking for then is some nice restaurants i havnt tried, reasonably priced, atmosphere possibly as well.
So where have you lot eaten and enjoyed for whatever reason ?
Thanks in advance

Short and sweet from me - if you're taking Disney 'virgins' you have got to take them to Whispering Canyon and don't say ANYTHING in advance ;)

Lol sounds good, i could maybe do that instead of the Hoop Dee Hoo. Ive never been to Whisperin Canyon before but read lots about it, is it still as good as it used to be ?
BigGrilla - Its at Wilderness Lodge and the servers interact with you, preferabbly if you do something to upset them i believe, like wear a Universal T Shirt or somehitng.
Would you recommend a dinner or lunch here?

That's the one - here's the Disney link, although I'm sure fellow Dibbers can tell some much more illuminating tales about this particular dining experience!

sorry meant to say - olive garden and macaroni grill are both italian and very tasty, kobe steak house - you sit around a big hot plate and a japanese chef cooks dinner in front of you - very entertaining and delicious food, and not forgetting sweet tomatoes - this is devine albeit a buffet, there is a very fresh salad bar, hot soups and pastas, different breads and varied desserts - it is all you can eat and very reasonably priced.

As well as the ones mentioned here, can I recommend Bennigans:D I have some fussy eaters, and a couple of more adventurous eaters, in my gang, and this place suits us all:D Its themed like an Irish pub restaurant, but lots of cajun influence in many of the dishes, as well as others (can recommend the cajun Crab Cakes, esp). Irish influence as well - they do guiness glazed chicken or shrimp, which is fantastic:) Area's of the pub are named after areas in Dublin, eg. 'O'Connell Street':D. We have eaten at several of the restaurants, and NEVER had a bad meal - good kids menu (plus Kids menu doubles as colouring book and puzzle book, crayons provided), as well as adults, and service has always been excellent. The deserts are FABULOUS:tounge: And - very, very reasonable - for 6 of us, 2 to 3 courses (we usually share their version of the Blooming Onion, called 'The Irish Haystack, for starters), and always have desert, including drinks, around $130 maximum!

Hi,
Another one for your list non-disney, Outback, themed Australian, on the 192.
We have always had a good meal there.
Hope this helps.

Tony Romas fab ribs and we always go to Chevys lovely Mexican food and really cheap, we took my parents at Christmas and they loved Chevys as much as we do. Perkins breakfasts are really good, the best burgers we had at Christmas was at Fuddruckers the first time we had eaten there but will definately we going back at Christmas

Another vote here for Fuddruckers, Iain said by far the best burger of the holiday last year and I had a delicious chicken dish. The prices are even better, really cheap. It's quick, no nonsense and great service. We can't wait to visit again this year.

Thought of another one!! A vote for Race Rock too, as much for the atmosphere as the food.
We started our holiday off at Race Rock last year and it really stands out in our memories. There is lots of choice in the menu and they have a seperate menu for kids with the crayons etc. The flag cake is excellent for dessert, we actually shared it between 3 as we were that full!! Lots of arcade games for the kids to play on after eating and it also won't break the bank.

I think you will find that lunch menus are usually cheaper, so this may help with the budget! :d:

I didn't get chance to post another one that I thought of this morning!! We had a great meal at the Celebration Town Tavern at Celebration, lots of locals eating in there and again great prices. I think they did 99 types of different beers!! "99 bottles of beer on the wall!!"
We also love ESPN like Helen, been there a couple of times now. :D

:omg: Oh my God people, thanks.
Theres a couple on that list i have heard of, outback and sweet tomatoes but never tried eating at them and the others, never heard of them..........have i been wandering around Orlando with my eyes closed?
Fuddruckers ? :pgig: Did you make that one up lol. Got a list of places to eat on my PC that i started and im just about to go add all these new ones on. Will do a search on the net to see where they are all located. They all sond lovely. Sweet Tomatoes is a veggie restaurant isnt it ? That would be great, one day without looking at a steak or chicken. Dont kow what Dh and DBIL will say though but hey, they didnt want in on the organising so tough !
Im so pleased with the response, thanks so much and not a mention of a Ponderosa, Golden Corral or IHOP in sight !!! Woo hoo :jump:

Helen, the settings at Boardwalk sound fab and i think they sound prefect for a night chilling. you know ive never seen the Water Pageant on the lake so it might be a nice time to try catch it while at Boardwalk.
I would have been better just editing my post than sending 3 wouldnt i - or maybe am i trying to put my post count up lol :nonono:

Tinkerbell do you mean the electrical water pageant? Although it's quite low key and bits of it are apparently recycled from the 70s! this is one of my Disney favourites  We saw it in 2005 from a Wishes cruise and from the shore outside Wilderness Lodge. I'm sure you'll like it but I thought it was towed along Bay Lake and Seven seas Lagoon , so it's visible from the Magic Kingdom resorts but not from The Boardwalk. If the timings worked out right I think you could arrange to see it from Fort Wilderness when you do Hoop de |Doo ? Please excuse me if I have the wrong end of the stick  but I'd hate you to be disappointed :( Thinking about Fort Wilderness we enjoyed The Trails End Buffet here, it doesn't have any characters but the atmosphere was friendly and it was very good value :-)
