We are going to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon for the first time in Sept. I just wondered if anyone had any tips on going, such as what you wear on your feet, and what you do with all your valuable, ie cash and keys?

All advice/pics greatfully recieved.;)

Hi Jennifer,

There are lockers where you can store your valuables. I tend to do this but leave some dollars somewhere handy for lunch, ice-cream.

We tend to walk round barefoot and have never had any problems.

Happy splashing.:d:

A waterproof container worn around the neck is handy for keys and cash.

When we went in August last year, the pathways were Hot, Hot, Hot !!!.

I would recommend some footwear to save the soles of your feet, (they do sell 'water shoes' in the parks).

Also, if you have young or small children, be careful of the 'wave pool' at Typhoon Lagoon. It is very strong and even knocks adults over. It can be a bit frightening for children..

Get there early and get a "base" for the day. Take towels from the hotel if you don't want to hire them. Make sure you have shoes (buy water shoes from the likes of Wal-Mart where they are far cheaper than the water parks. Also I would recommend a re-fillable mug. We have one for the four of us to share. You can get a new barcode everytimeyou go and re-use it. this is much cheaper than buying drinks all the time.

Cheers guys, is there anything else I should be aware of? Our party is two cowardly adults, one 'up-for-anything' 21 yr old and a 'I need more scary things to do' 10 yr old.

At TL, don't miss out on Sharks Reef:D A chance to snorkel across a large tank, with rays, leopard and hammerheads - absolutely brilliant!

We left most valuables at the villa and only took what cards/tix we would need for that trip - left them in a locker and had some cash with us.
Wore water shoes we bought from Publix; available all over the place.

TIP FOR BLOKES: To avoid post ride tenderness, if you go on Summit Plummet use your hands to protect your jacobs!!:erm:

At Blizzard Beach, your 10 yr old will love the Ski Patrol Training Camp - we usually set up near here (then we can sunbathe and watch the kids!).

It's an area for pre-teens, with scaled down versions of some of the big slides, a T-bar drop and an iceberg walk (they try to cross the water via floating"icebergs", holding onto a net of rope above- everyone falls in and they love it!) adults can't go in the water with them, hence a good excuse to sunbathe for a bit. You can watch though and it's closely patrolled by lifeguards.

After a while of this, he'll be ready to go on some of the big slides.

For the cowardly among you, the lazy river (Cross Country Creek) is fun, but if you intend to drift all the way round, note where you start from (all the entry points have a sign with a different name on) otherwise you'll be going round all day!

And DH and the kids swear that the family raft ride is a nice gentle one (a group of you sliding down in a big dinghy-type thing) but they've not quite got me on there yet!!!

My DDs loved it here so we intend to do more Waterpark days this trip. Apart from Discovery Cove, it's the thing they talk about most.

Have fun.

- More intense rides at Blizzard Beach
- You'll all love the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon
- Buy a chocolate sundae from Typhoon Lagoon!!!! (Heaven!!)
- As already said, make a 'base' as early as possible, somewhere perfect for a tan :D

We usually walk around with no shoes but the floor does get hot at parts...
We do things the hard way and just stand on the wet or shaded areas :d: Works for us....

And there are lockers for valueables but we left our mains back at the villa.. juts incase. :)

Absolutely love the water parks we spent 4 days there on our holiday last September.
I do not want to put you off but while we were at Blizzard Beach there were swarms of love bugs, they don't hurt you at all and are only small but it is something you probably should be prepared for!

Photos,

Leave the expensive digital camera at hotel/villa and buy a waterproof disposable camera at Wal Mart. Take it back to Wal Mart to have it developed and go for the option to have your photos put onto CD, that way you get digital photos without the risk of damaging you digital camera.

Also you can get some fun underwater photos.
