Here's some info I gathered from various sites. They are places that others have recommended.
Magic Kingdom:
A perfect place to view the parades with only a few people around you (no pushing or shoving ) is in front of the "Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe" in Frontierland because of the wooden fence in front of the door which is always in place (not one of the temporary ones used for during parades). Get their reasonably early, make yourself look er big(!) and it's like a private viewing area!
There is a great spot to watch the fireworks ( and Tinkerbelle's flight) that is the rose garden area just in front of Cinder's castle. They have cut back a lot of the trees that had grown up in this area and now you can get an excellent view here. I'll try to describe the area, if you were to walk from the park entrance up Main St towards the castle you go past the walkway that leads to Tommorrowland (on your right hand side) there is a little path that leads down to a covered seating area and a little stream. The path loops round in a circle and goes nearer to the castle, but in my experience the better view is to be had from the further away stretch of path. If you stand right up close to the fence surrounding the rose garden you should get an uninterupted (and excellent) view of both the fireworks and Tink's flight (which goes pretty much straight over your head).

-World Showcase Plaza is my favorite viewing point. I always arrive at the Plaza at about 8:10 with rope drop being at 8:30. They drop the rope right when the lights come up during Tapestry.
-I suggest next to the 2nd planter to right of the first gift shop at the entrance to the World Showcase. You are close to the action, can feel the fire, you are right next to the speaker, and are close to the exit.
-We really liked to view IllumiNations 2000 from the bridge on the America side of the Italy island. The only problem with this spot is that it is frequently used for private events.

Animal Kingdom:
There is a portion of the route (near the Safari entrance in Africa) that the parade goes through twice (at the beginning and end). If you get a spot here just before parade starts, you can watch it go by once and then wait ten minutes for it to come by the other way. After the first pass, most guests leave and you have your choice of front row seats without having to line up an hour beforehand. If you have both a still camera and a video camera, this allows you to use both cameras and get some great pictures! Jenn
Hope this helps! We'll be trying some of these in May!

For the night time parade in MK we have always gone to the same position. In front of the ice cream parlour on Main Street. Its a great spot as you are right by the Ice cream parlour (obvioulsy!) you have caseys corner across the way should you get hungry and there are toilets just along the walkway between Main street and tomorrowland. We have found it to be a great spot when you are in a group and especially with kids (its also right by a smoking area should anyone want that!!)
Then there is the fact that it is a great place to see Tinkerbell and the fireworks and then also quick and easy to get to the park gates if you are leaving straight after.
