Hi All,

Thought I'd share a story with you that brought a big smile to my face and is a great example of good customer care shown by one of the minor league baseball clubs in Florida.

DH and DS are sports mad. They have rounds of golf booked for our trip and we have also booked tickets for two Orlando Magic basketball games. As we arrive just after the major league baseball teams have left Florida after their spring training we decided to book a couple of local minor league baseball games and started looking for suitable teams.

We found one club, the delightful sounding Brevard County Manatees, who play in an 8000 seat stadium up near Kennedy Space Centre and checked out their website to see if we could buy tickets online. Altough there was an online ticket option it wouldn't accept our address as 'state of origin' was a required field.

I e-mailed the club via their 'contact us' address and pointed out the problem. Within 24 hours the even more delightfully named Buck Rogers (I'm not making this up, honest!), who is the general manager had e-mailed back to apologise for the problem. He also promised to have his 'IT guys' change the ticket buying facility to accept oversees buyers and told us he'd arranged for complimentary tickets to the game we had been trying to book to be left at the 'will call' booth to make up for our inconvenience.

The tickets are not at all expensive but it thought it was a lovely gesture and wanted to share it with everyone.

Just hope that the team wins when we visit!

Gooooo Manatees!!!!!! :spin:

Great stuff. NBA games are great entertainment - have been to both the Magic and the Heat.

We've got Yankees tickets booked for our upcoming NY visit and can't wait for that!

Nice touch from the Baseball Club.

We have been to both Major and Minor League games, and to be honest , prefer the Minor League for its family atmosphere.........and a lot cheaper.
$27 to watch Major league at Tropicana field, and sit miles from the pitch, or $5 to watch Minor League, and sit where you like.
Went to watch the Lakeland Tigers last April, playing the Tampa Yankees, and it was a real nice relaxing evening, watching something that is part of the American way of life.
Been looking at visiting the Legends Field this year. Its were the Tampa Yankees play.

A great result.

What superb service, just what you expect over there. Would you get it over here .... I think not.

Well done.

We went to the baseball (Tampa) last year and whole family surprisingly enjoyed it.

Thinking of doing another game when we go back next year, might take in a minor game though, based on your experience, it might just be these guys.

Cheers

Hi Albert3,

Ask me again at the end of April and I'll let you know how it went at the Manatee's game. (I can't wait to see what Buck Rogers looks like :spin: )

We're also going to see another minor league game at the Lakeland Flying Tigers, which is a litle closer to Orlando.

Can't wait!!

When we were watching the devil rays last summer a guy who worked there saw we were English and came and offered us free tickets for another game later in the week. We couldnt make it but that too was a lovely gesture!

It's basically a case of good customer relations equalling good marketing sense in that a happy customer (me) has told other people about their good experience who then go on to discuss minor league baseball and maybe go along to watch a game - makes sense to me.

Such a shame that some companies in UK don't think the same way.
