Attention anyone who has booked or is thinking of booking with Virgin and staying at the Orlando World Centre Marriott. The brochure is incorrect.

Virgin have come back to me to advise they have just been made aware that the hotle is no longer providing complimentary transport to Universal, Seaworld or anywhere else in fact but only to Disney.

We have been caught out ourselves and i am replying to the email right now however i do not want anyone else caught out. Straight away that puts taxis on our budget which we never catered for and now am not sure if we will be able to afford our holiday completley and may have to pass on a few of these parks. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

i would be looking at them for re-location then if you were relying on this

No doubt there will be some small print somewhere which states that this facility may be withdrawn at any time, so they have no liability for it, but I would let Virgin know that you have based your booking on having the complimentary transport provided, so you will be out of pocket over this. They may compensate you.

Well they did offer to relocate us however i kindly pointed out that with 7 weeks to go before departure, most places are going to be full except for the disney hotels and then it still doesnt provide the transport. The package deal does offer a car however i am only 22 therefore i will get shot with the insurance... Ideally i would like Virgin to honor the brochure and pay for our taxis to the places the transport is no longer provided however like you state, there is always the small text.

Grr surely Virgin should have double checked they had an agreement with the hotel for the period of time the brochure covers before advertising this. Does anyone think i am being over the top here? If Virgin do not come up with a viable solution, i am tempted to go to the watchdog people regarding this for false advertising. :(

Depends if its the hotel that has pulled the service, if Virgin thought they were at fault I doubt they would have taken the initiative to let you know, the hotels are not the property of the holiday company and can withdraw services from them at will.

The maxim with all travel brochures is, correct at time of print, this absolves them from fault unless its a material change.

Whereabouts is the World Centre Marriott? Is public transport a viable option?

Just looked on the map on Expedia. Public transport is definately not an option with that hotel's location. It might be worth seeing what else Virgin have available in terms of alternative accomodation.

I cant imagine "everywhere" being full and there are quite a few places that provide transport.

Marriott is a lovely complex, but really built to keep people (conventions) within the resort if not at the theme parks! It is long walk even from the reception to the main road. However, only a few minutes drive to Disney.

Public (bus) transport is not an option and would strongly think about a relocation or look for a hire car that does not mean expensive insurance for someone 22.

There are loads of companies that do not load insurance now. Including one on the top of this page.

But surely this is false advertising?

One idea we do have is taking the free transport to disney and going from there...

We really do not want to move hotel again as the hotel is very nice and in the ideal location.

By the way, Virgin did not let us know about this. We told Virgin who were unaware at the time!

There will not be any transport from Disney to other rival parks.

Disneys own transport is just that Disney to Disney!

Well we spoke with our TA Thomson and they contacted Virgin. All they offered was a free hire car (this was already included however we turned this down) and have now asked them to go back to Virgin requesting a contribution to the Insurance on the car.

Not long left now - 42 Days and counting every second of it. Well Virgin finally came back to us after the TA contacted them and they have offered us £25 each. Not what we were after however the TA said they fought hard for that and they did not think they would get anything else from them. Well we have accepted it and decided to get car hire which works out £120 each (with the £25 each included). Not ideal however not going to let this get me down.
