View Full Version : Concierge, help please????
Hi all
Off to Disney for the 2nd time 20th December 2007. We have booked to stay 7 nights at the AKL then 7 nights at the Contempory.
I have read about the concierge 'upgrade' and I was hoping someone could give me some more info on this please?
ie. is it worth it? How do I book it? What is it!!!! etc.
This is to be a 'holiday of a lifetime' (again!!!!) So want everything to be the bizz.
Julie
Whether concierge is worth it is a very personal thing but I felt it was :) I stayed at the Yacht Club and it included concierge rooms on the top floor which were not accessible to general resort guests (key access via the elevator), personalised check-in (you're escorted up the floor and you check in there), staff on hand from 7am to 10 pm to do anything you ask of them (within reason ;) ), a nice lounge with nibbles during the day (continental style breakfast, various cookies, crackers from then until the evening when there was 'evening offerings' which included 1 hot dish and lots of nibbles - but note these aren't really a meal replacement as such), you also have access to the IPO (Itinerary Planning Office). You make contact with the IPO before your stay and they make all your ADRs, tour requests, etc., etc. I felt really spoilt and it was definitely worth it for my last trip, I'm returning in December I loved it so much :)
Thanks for the info Claire, sounds like you had a fantastic time. When in December are you going?
Julie
It was wonderful thanks Julie :) I'm off on the 2nd December for 7 nights.

We got a free upgrade at the poly. Concierge was wonderful, seperate building and access to the lounge. The offerings at breakfast were enough for a meal, the evening offerings were lovely and made either a very light meal or a pre dinner snack and the night offerings of alcohol and cakes were devine!!!
We felt very spoilt and im sure its worth ever penny

We have stayed concierge at AKL a few times and Grand Floridian. Both wonderful but I'm not too sure about AKL now. Concierge used to be on 5th & 6th floor and the lounge area on the 6th floor had a fantastic view over the lobby. This area is now being changed into DVC villas so I'm not sure where concierge is being relocated to but perhaps they will ensure that the lounge area will then have a savanah view as this was always a draw back.

We stayed at the Contemporary concierge over Christmas and had a fantastic time. The lounge at the CR was lovely and it was worth it for us not to have to battle the crowds at the very busy food and fun centre for breakfast.
Concierge at AKL sounds wonderful!!! I am hoping to go there in Oct/Nov. Can't wait!
