View Full Version : Poly or GF?
Ok i am in planning mode for April 2008 and i am getting so excited because this will be the first time i take my two little girls to Orlando. If you had a choice to stay in either the Poly or GF which would it be?
Help i can't decide!!!!
Thanks

Poly for me.
From what I have seen of the GF rooms they are not to my liking.

Poly but the rooms can be dark
GF just for the service and the little touches they do.

I think the theming of the poly is nicer but it's personal preference really :)

We are going to give the Poly a go next trip.
Hope we've made the right choice!;)

Poly for me - it seems more child friendly

Even if money was no object, I would book a suite at the Poly. Gorgeous hotel!!
GF for me - we have stayed there for the past 7 years, and although it may seem pretentious it certainly is not. There is no standing on parade at all at the GF, just a fantastic family fun atmosphere. People may assume Poly is more child friendly but until you have stayed at the GF and compared, you cannot say that is the case.
The pool areas are well kept and supervised. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately tended to. The lobby is immense again with $2m of flowers throughout the year on display. The piano man in the background or indeed the jazz band playing throughout the day and evening are a delight to sit and listen to whilst whiling away half an hour (for a snooze!).
The restaurants are a plenty to suit all tastes from fine dining to buffet character dining, a lovely tea room for afternoon tea overlooking the lovely gardens. Loads of kids activities too. The beautful Victorian decor is pleasing to the eye both around the hotel and rooms. The rooms aren't huge, but many have a blacony and MK view. One stop monorial or ferry to MK as well.
In my view GF is heads above all the other Disney hotels for atmosphere, conveinience, dining and all round good disney fun!
After ONE rude, ignorant CM's treatment last year at the GF, I will never stay there if I could afford it.
Also, it is way too chintzy and chocolate box for me - of your two choices, would have to be Poly.
I vote for the Poly - it's a beautiful hotel :) I do like the GF but after my last experience there in December with rude CMs that has put me off.

Both are gorgeous, I'd love to do a mixed stay at both if I could.

We stayed at the Poly in Nov and was way too dark. We are planning to stay at GF next time. but the Poly is great with kids we had atwo year old and every morning the maid made animals out of towels on our bed. Do not think you can go wrong with either you will have a great time.

What about the AK lodge:smile:
Poly for me too!
Have eaten at GF but the decor doesn't do anything for me at all although we'll be staying there for at least one night this year to rack up another resort hotel so my opinion may change.
Hi Eda!!:)
we loved GF and the found it really friendly, but that was just our experience, I know others may have different ones:) The spa is to die for, and we loved the V & A restaurant too:)
I would love to try the Poly one day too, and maybe with 2 little ones they may prefer it? The pool looks lovely there!

Now that the AAA has rated the Polynesian as a 4 Diamond resort like the GF I would pick the Polynesian for the better transportation options and more things for your girls to do.
The Polynesian is just finishing up a complete renovation of the resort including the rooms being redone with everything new inside. The transportation is better since you can walk to the TTC and get on the monorail to Epcot. The GF is easy to get to the MK by the monorail but if you want to go to Epcot from the GF you need to take it around the lake, than get off and board the Epcot monorail. Also the Polynesian has larger standard rooms. The Polynesian pools are very close to the rooms unlike the one GF pool on the beach with the slide is away from the property.
Both are great resort with a totally different theme but I just feel the Polynesian resort has more to offer. We do try other resorts but so far none give us everything we have at the Polynesian.
