Morning all

I would imagine that this question has been asked before but I am trying to sort out our ADRs and Christmas Day is giving me a headache!!!

We will be staying AKL but we do have a car so location is no problem. We would like to eat somewhere a bit 'special' but also not too formal as the munchkins will be 14 and 11.

We have already decided on Calafornian Grill for New Years Day night as we will be at the CR then.

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks
Julie

I would recommend Jiko, Artist Point, Citrico's, Narcoosee's or the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

None of the WDW restaurants are that formal IMHO.
We ate at Artist Point on Xmas Day, but then we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and it made sense to us - it was very good.
They do actually serve reduced menus on Xmas Day, NYE and Day - basically the normal menu with a couple of appetisers and entrees removed - be aware is all.

We ate at Boma last Christmas day, but we weren't staying at AKL so that we took the time to get there early and have a look at the animals and take in the atmosphere.

Thanks for the ideas. Think I might go to walmart the day before and make a picnic:pgig:

We ate at 1900 Park Fare on Christmas Eve and Chef Mickey's on Christmas day out of the two I preferred 1900PF and if we were there on Christmas Day again this would be the one I'd pick. The food was better and the GF was very festive

We are all sorted, my partner loves cooking and has insisted on cooking the full mashings not only for us but the other ten in our family who are going at the same time!!!

She's a treasure...

Julie Hi
just reading this post as we are still trying to decide what restaurant for christmas day, you mention 180+10. Is the+10 because you are staying on site as i thought it was 180 days and dont want to miss out.

I will be at AKL too.

We are having a room service breakfast on Christmas Day and then going to Cinderella Gala Feast at Grand Floridian (my children are 4 & 8)

We are planning on having breakfast at Akershaus, for our girls to see the princesses and we are hoping to go to Le Cellier and Candlelight Processional for dinner. We are planning to spend the day going around the countries in Epcot to see the different Santas. Can't wait for 180 days, not long now!

i'm so confused..i have 3 occasions to celebrate when I'm on holiday. first there's my birthday, then christmas, then new years. Last time I visited I was 13 years old and this time I will be a fair bit older!!! any suggestions as what to do when? im particularly worried about christmas dinner..does the english pub in epcot do a nice one? i called up and was suggested 1900 park fare but im not sure as its not in one of the main parks. i heard that whichever one you visit at christmas day you have to go early and stay put so that means I'll have to stay there to dine too. any ideas?

DD has 'requested' that we try for the Fantasmic dinner package on Christmas day eating at Mamma Melrose? Anybody got ant views on that one!

If you are going to do Fantasmic on Xmas Day, push the boat out and do the Brown Derby. H&V would not be a great Christmas Day experience IMHO and Mama Melrose has had some terrible reviews. Although I believe that as of this year you can select from all of the menu - a limited choice was a problem before.

Lieschen - you're right about staying put at which ever park you go to. They don't always get to capacity, but could you imagine how awful it would be if you'd made plans....

Anyway, we're going to the Magic Kingdom Christmas Day, which we've done for the last couple of years - if you're not worried about having a 'proper' Christmas dinner, Crystal Palace does a lovely lunch. We're going to try Liberty Tree Tavern this year for a change.

But yes, get there early....!

I can book mine this weekend, and I'm SOOOOO excited!

My two DD's decided that they didn't want to go to a park on Christmas day so we bought a turkey dinner in a box from Walmart. It was all cooked and just needed finishing off in the oven. You got a large turkey in a roasting bag, 3 side dishes and gravey. This had all been cooked on there premises and we picked it up on Christmas eve.

I think we may go to a park this time even though we enjoyed chilling in OKW, but it is not same as home. I think we should go out and have something different. I will buy the turkey dinner again but have it on christma eve. I like the idea of going to Boma and enjoying the resort.

thanks mandy! i think wherever we go we will enjoy because we will be on a great holiday. am thinking we might go to epcot for christmas day and then mk for new years, although liberty tree tavern does sound nice too - am going to have to decide soon and get it booked up! have already got tickets for mickey's very merry christmas parade so am looking forward to that. i dont want to make reservations for every single meal because its nice to have a degree of flexibility but does anyone have any suggestions for a birthday meal? also what or where is brown derby as mentioned above?

After much deliberation I have decided to stay at AKL on Christmas Day,and have dinner at Jiko.I can't face too much battling with crowds on Christmas Day.
