After seeing Sally's brilliant photos of her recent Disney cruise I went to the Disney web site for a little nosey at dates/prices etc, well, I put in all my details (as you do :d: well dreaming cant hurt can it?) Only when I got to the end, I sort of, erm, well......

CLICKED BOOK IT!!!!!!!! :omg: :erm: :spin: :d:

So - we are now booked onto the wonder cruise for a 4 night Bahama trip in a family stateroom with verandah!!!! :pgig:

We sail 13th Jan 08 - 17th Jan 08 and have been allocated room 8056!!!!!

OMG what am I going to tell DH and the kids? :omg:

Think I am going to keep it a secret and hand them an envelope on xmas day with the tickets in!!! :D I am beside myself at the moment - so exited and a little bit scared too! had to share it with you as I cant tell hubby is sitting 2 foot away from me and has no clue what Iv just gone and done :erm:

Have done no reasearch at all - was busy planning our trip but hadnt factored on this! where do I start finding all the info out about the cruise?

If you go on the Dis board (US version of this board), the Disney Cruiseline Section (especialy the forums) will tell you all you need to know (and more !).

You will have a fab time .....trouble is, its highly addictive !

I did not even know about the existence of the Disney Cruise Line until I joined this site and the Dis. It is just impossible to resist when you see the pics and read the comments. Needless to say I'm booked for Sept!

Hi there!!!

Can you tell me what site you used to book your disney cruise and did you pay in full or could you just pay a deposit??

Then do you pay the balance there or before you go??? thanks!!

I booked it directly with Disney cruise. I had to pay $800 deposit at time of booking and the balance is due in October. I guess the deposit you pay will depend on the total cost of the trip. Our total cost was $2653.00 for 2 adults & 2 kids in a cat 4 family stateroom with verandah. Could have got it a lot cheaper if we booked an inside cabin but a balcony was essential for me as I get quite panicky and claustraphobic.

Another great company to book with is Dreams, quite a few dibbers have booked with them :D I think the earlier you book the cheaper it is, I think I got quite a heavily discounted rate so am more than happy! :spin:

That sounds totally fantastic. I dare NOT even look at the DCL!!!

Not this year anyway!!

The offer you got sounds really good, I am sure the extra you paid for the verandah will be so worth while!!

Looking forward to hearing all about it and thanks for your info xx

Our friend who lives in Celebration did a Disney Cruise at the end of last year and the pictures we saw were amazing. They truly had a trip of a lifetime and would love to do it again. It is a lot cheaper to book a cruise whilst you are in Florida. Two adults and their daughter who was 11 at the time all went for about £500.00 full board.

You can now transfer your reservation from DCL to Dreamsunlimited and get their onboard credit (between $50 - $200 - depending what, and when you book) and still have access to your booking on the DCL website, plus all their perks.

Worth doing - you have nothing to lose by doing this, and a few extra spending $s to gain....just give DU a ring and they will take care of it all...you may even get a little gift in your stateroom from them like we did.

You pay a deposit which is fully refundable or transferable to another Disney cruise, up to 75 days before sailing, when the balance is due.

If you are thinking about next year, the time to book is this year as it is cheaper the earlier you book.

PS. Use a Nationwide debit or credit card to get the best exchange rate.

I had to laugh when i read this thread. I tried to surprise my DH with a holiday booked for Florida for his birthday. He inadvertently found out (due to his own noseyness) and it kind of backfired. He thought it was extravagant to go business class and the 3 weeks from tuesday to tuesday casued probs with his (self employed) work schedule. Also after 26 years of marriage you would think I would have learnt that he hates surprises and cant stand to be left out of the planning (admittedly lots of fun!!) Also my attempts to book a hummer as a hire car failed (thank goodness as DH freaked about the amount of petrol it would use!!!) But alls well that ends well he got over the shock and it now looking forward to it as much as I am!!!! But be warned surprises are not always that well received - so handle carefully.:)

It should be fine - DH has nothing to do with the planning and just goes along with whatever I decide we are doing, he trusts me not to go into debt over our holidays and as long as we can scrape it together he doesnt mind about the cost (although I would NEVER disclose the true cost of any of the trip to him or he probablly would have a heart attack!)
Luckily we already have the time booked off and are just slotting the cruise into what would have been park days.
He may not be overly keen on the idea of a cruise when he eventually finds out what Iv done, but I think he will really enjoy it, the fact that he doesnt have to drive anywhere, can have a glass of wine with dinner, having a bit of rest and relaxation and adult time when the kids are in the clubs, and finally seeing the looks on our DD's faces when they get on the ship - even he should think that that makes it all worth while (or so I hope!)

I also would never disclose full cost of any trip (he already has high bloood pressure!) but as am paying for it myself dont think i should have to. I would never go into debt either - spoils it if you have to worry about paying for it.

Your plans all sound great to me - i hope you have a thoroughly good time and he is bowled over by your thoughtfullness!! He just sounds a bit more laid back than my DH:pgig:
