Please help - marital dispute brewing!!

I would love to do a character meal with our DSx2 while we're at Disney but my husband is convinced it's a huge waste of money - he's got no sense of fun

I'm thinking maybe a breakfast would be a good compromise as it's probably the cheapest option - or maybe lunch?? Which meals would you recommend for boys aged 2 and 12 (and mum aged 35 :spin: :spin:)

Also, do you get LOADS of food because that might help sway grumpy DH:kissing:

Any thoughts much appreciated

xx

A lot of the character meals are all you care to eat buffets so no shortgae of food!!

Good options are
Chef Mickeys in Contemporary - do breakfast, lunch or dinner with mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Donald
Crystal Palace in MK - again Breakfast, lunch or dinner with winnie the Pooh, Tigger, eeyore and Piglet

More info here (http://www.allears.net/din/cbchar.htm) and here (http://www.allears.net/din/cb.htm) on other meals, sample menus and prices as well as which characters dine where

They are loads of fun and worth every $. You will not pay for your 2 year old anywhere as you only pay 3-9, however your other son will be considered an adult. Dinner at Crystal palce will be $27.99 each so $83.97 for the family - works out at about £44 ex tip and taxes. Chef Mickey's is the same price for dinner. Breakfasts are normally around $19 pp and lunch about $22

Hope this helps
Matt

The two i've done have both been superb fun...Chef Mickeys which we did as a breakfast and is a help yourself buffet and was lovely...and O'Hana's which was a sit down breakfast with food brought to your table in huge skillets which were constantly refilled.
It's definately not a waste of money and if you have kids he really should do it for their sake because they will love it.

I'm a fan of the character meal, especially breakfast as they're cheaper and have a good variety of food. Have a later breakfast buffet, say around 10 am, and it will take you through until evening (at least it does us).

Kitty

PS I love your NABAD tag line. As a very down to earth and not at all dizzy blonde I have to agree!

:wavey: oh you have to do a character meal they are great fun:pgig: ,yes they can seem a bit expensive but there so worth doing even your DH will love it.:d: my DH was the same but he's already told me what to book for next time he loved it so much. our fav one is the garden grill in epcot with chip&dale, mickey &pluto (DS absolutely loves chip&dale)the resturant rotates while you eat so you get differnt scenery it's well cool:D depends what characters your kids like best as to what you do but definately worth it:d: :jump:

I have to admit The Land is the only character meal we have ever done - many moons ago:( We will definitely go back there again this year so that the Grand-kids can meet the characters. As to the other meals I am still thinking about them, as we are not staying on-site the resort breakfasts are probably a bit difficult to get to.

YES, YES and YES you must do a character meal!!!!

Tell your DH he's going to Disney World, there's room for only one 'Grumpy' there!!! :D Anyway, the grumpier he is the more the characters will love him ;)

As said in the previous posts the buffet meals are an excellent option as there is loads of food and does keep you going all day!!

Keep us posted as to which you decide to do!!! :wavey:

Hi there

I dont think anybody has mentioned this but - why dont you and DS (2) do the character meal and DH and DS (12) do something else? Reason I say this is because I have booked all my ADR's for Sept - 1 being Cinderella Royal Table - but just for me and the girls 5, and 10. DH and DS (6) are more than happy to catch brekkie somewhere else and do some 'boy' things.

Thought it was worth considering - especially if he is really not that keen ;)

You go for it - Disney is all about family, friends and laughs. A character breakfast won't break the bank unless you're on a very tight budget and I bet the looks on your childrens' faces when you both see them interact with the characters will be absolutely priceless.

Enjoy.

we love character meals and we're both late 30's with NO kids!
If he's really not bothered, leave him in bed and go enjoy a character brekkie without him:d:
Crystal Palace is our favourite - the characters are wonderful, the food is very good quality and it's buffet so as much as you need. Also, if you book to go there very early (8am), you get in the park before it opens (unless it's EMH) and you get a wonderful view down Main Street and the castle with hardly anyone else in sight!

We did Crystal Palace for lunch as our first Character meal - when we were in our 20's and long before we had a family - and it was fantastic. We have been every time since.

I think lunch is better value than breakfast as you get more variety and choice. Dinner is simply a more expensive version of lunch. Breakfast is breakfast whichever way you cut it.

Character meals are a must!
DH wasn't too keen on the idea at first but now he enjoys them just as much a we do! The highlight of our 1st trip was eating at the Hollywood & Vine when it was a character breakfast and coming back to the table to find Chip & Dale feeding DH coffee and scrambled eggs! :pgig:
They're great fun and there's always lots of yummy food! Our favourite is breakfast at The Crystal Palace!
This year we've booked 6 character meals, i can't get enough of them! :D
