The kids have asked to go into the Neverland Club while we are staying at the Poly so DH & I will have a meal. Last time we ate at Kona and it was lovely :tounge: but we are wondering if we should try Ohanna this time. Which one would you choose and why?

Personally I would chose Kona Cafe as I was not too keen on Ohana. I did enjoy the starters and the dessert there but was not keen on the skewered meat. This was for two reasons: I'm not a big meat lover anyhow and what we did get the chargrilled taste was too strong for me. I guess barbecue lovers would be in heaven here but it was just not to my taste.

We love eating at 'Ohana Jakki, but this time I am going to try Kona on the recommendation of Steve;) I was just going to ask in a seperate thread, which one is nicer, lunch or dinner at Kona:)

'Ohana is a great meal, but I feel obliged to eat it all and always end up really stuffed. DH loves meat so therefore he is gutted that we are not eating at 'Ohana this year.

Perhaps I am not the person to answer this Jakki as we didnt like Ohana much either, but let me qualify that. I think we were unlucky with the very poor service we had ,and the fact that the waiter spoke little or no English, stuck us in a corner and told us nothing about the fun didnt help. Added to that he managed to put all three courses on the table in one go. Now that happened on our first visit but we dont feel like trying it again. Im not into smoked meats and since they use the horrible synthetic smoking liquid I wasnt keen on the meats. The meats were very dry too. I find from reading other boards that opinions are very split on Ohana. Many complain about the meats being overcooked while others say theirs werent. I think it seems to be hit and miss. Some who rave about it and then return sometimes have a bad experience; others never do.
It could work very well for you Jakki and the kids might love it and the fun but for us it wasnt fun.
I love Kona though!

We didn't particularly like our 'OHana dinner either. I had to ask for my meat to be re-cooked plus the exact same reasons as Margaret. Although we were sat by the window which would have been a great Wishes view if our waiter hadn't rushed us so much.

We both love Kona but I was wondering if we should try somethig else and now I'm even more confused :confused2

If you are on the DDP I'd go for dinner, if you are not I'd check out the menus and pick the one which has what you'd like to eat. We had dinner there and it was lovely

Not tried OHanas but do like Kona, prefer dinner as u then relax in the resort, watch wishes. the electric light pageant, plus u want a cheap wishes cruise time the boat transfer to MK driver goes slower so u can enjoy it
