I was wondering if anyone knows if the cross stitch kits are cheaper out there? I do tend to buy mine on Ebay so I dont pay shop prices over here but if they are going to be cheaper then I will stop buying and stock up out there instead. :d:

Check out Michaels craft stores - there's one near Florida Mall and another at The Loop.

There is a x-stitch shop on 192 near the walmart about marker 12, my DW gets her stuff sent over here from it, threads frams materials patterns etc..

I was in Michaels in 2005 (though I'd died and gone to heaven :pgig: I didn't buy much because I hadn't budgeted for it and I really didn't have time to browse. Intend to this time though, and hope to visite Joann's too.

In 2005 I saw all the DMC threads for less than half what I pay here, I got some but it was only guess work. This time I have made a list of the threads I haven't got. (I have DMC colour chart, so I photocopied list marking out the ones I have). 69 cent per regular skein at present per Joanns website (presumably plus tax)

I'm not too bothered about kits as I have so many cross stitch magazines with charts I would like to do, so I have noted on list what I need for these. Have a look at www.michaels.com and www.joann.com to get an idea of what they have and the cost. From a cross stitch point of view (rather than general crafts) looks like Joanns might be better than Michaels. (I've only been in Michaels so far, but they had quite a bit)

Thanks so much for that. All looks great and I have spent ages just looking at the websites. I think that I will have to allow myself a bit of time to explore!
