How many Dibbers will be dressing up for the pirate night party? Do most people wear costumes? I dont think I will be able to convince DH to wear a white frilly shirt or brandish a plastic sword, I think an eye patch and a bandana will be the most he would go for, and the chances of finding a costume to fit me is highly unlikley!

So - what are you all going to wear?

Ohhh - almost forgot to ask, if your on the late dinner seating, do you wear you pirates stuff to the show then to dinner? or is it show-dinner-change into pirate gear-party ?

Hi - we didn't fancy the whole dressing up bit either, so I bought some matching pirate T-shirts, so at least we could enter into the spirit of things...picture below.....

What did surprise me on our cruise was infact how few were dressed up in pirate outfits...I think its then you realise that the people who subscribe to DCL discussion boards (and therefore who really know about dressing up on pirates's night) actually make up only a small number of the people who sail on the ship - it is only really through these boards that the event gets promoted so it is little wonder I suppose ...it is not promoted before the cruise, as such by DCL.
They do however provide everyone with free pirate bandanas at the table, on the night, so you do all get the chance to join in , dressed up or not.

If you decide on the lower key t-shirt option, then take a look on the Cafepress website - they have hundreds of pirate designs and give excellent customer service.

we don't dress up too much, we don't have children with us so would feel a little silly i think if we dressed up a lot! I have a longish white, broderie anglais dress I'll probably wear on our next cruise...with a scarf added it could look quite 'pirate wenchy' ;) Mark will wear the pirate bandanna!

This is us lot on Pirate night, we didn't get proper Pirate outfits, but there are loads of Pirates of the Caribbean stuff in Wal-Mart etc. and the bandanas were given out at dinner

Rick and I tend to go for tropical wear, rather than pirate wear.

I have bought us all pirates of the caribean t shirts...Ellis has a pirate costume, I have pirate earrings, and dh has an eyepatch and bandana.

We're going to dinner (early sitting) in our outfits then heading up to party later. I have heard that late sitting sometimes misses part of the show?

We went the whole hog and all dressed up for Pirates Night on our 4 night cruise. I have to admit not many people were dressed up, I think more people dress up for the 7 night cruise. Having said that we got a lot of positive attention and my DH loved it when kids came up to him at the Pirate Party thinking he was a CM! My DDs are all quite girly but loved dressing up as Pirates for the evening, it was a lot of fun. We got the costumes very cheaply from a party shop on ebay and they folded up really small in the case.

Here is a picture that we had taken on the evening...

Great pic's Mandy and Nicola, love the costumes.

I think we will probably just go with the POTC T'shirts and bandana's. Although we are planning a night at MNSSHP could go as Pirates to that:)

We are really looking forward to dressing up as pirates - probably more so than for the formal night. We hope to pick stuff up in WDW and take it along.

Remember you'll all be given Bandanas at dinner to keep anyway, Our server tied mine around my arm so as not to mess up my hair LOL!!

On our cruise it seemed to be mainly small kids who'd dressed up although we did spot 4 adults who'd gone all the way too!!(They looked fab but a bit out of place!!)

We found the next evening a bit of a let down as although it was supposed to be dress up night hardly anyone bothered!

I was just going to dress DD(11) up in the full gear and not bother ourselves but now I am rethinking that, because if there are not many others dressed up she will stick out like a sore thumb and I think she may get upset and feel foolish.

Maybe i'll just get her an eye patch to wear and let her wear the bandana. It seems a shame though. What do you all think?

I was thinking the exact same thing, was going to go the whole hog and get DD's totally dressed up but if nobody else does the same DD who is 11 would feel embarrassed and out of place (youngest wouldnt care less lol)

Think we will all just get some pirate t shirts to wear and a bandana and eye patch, still in the 'theme' of it then but not sticking out like a sore thumb!
