Guys,
It's very sad that I have to make this kind of post on what is undoubtedly one of the most friendly sites on the net.

I'm not sure what's happening lately with some debate type threads. Some members are throwing personal attacks at other members when the debate isn't going their way it seems!

We will not tolerate personal attacks, insults and rudeness within threads.

We used to be able to have very good debates here on the DIBB and unlike other forum sites the debates stayed on topic and rarely broke down into a slanging match.

Over the last few months it seems that any thread that is by nature going to raise a topic where members have differing opinions, turns sour!!

I can usually see three things for this, first are the posts that are made saying things like "Oh this will be closed soon", "I'm amazed this is still open", "I think this should be closed now", "This will end in an argument" etc

These comments are not required or welcome on the threads Please refrain from making such comments, they do not help and do not give the thread a chance to progress in a friendly manner. If you can not contribute constructively to the thread then please refrain from commenting.

Secondly there seems to be some members that can't accept a difference of opinion without taking it to a personal level, usually aimed at a member they disagree with.

Personal comments aimed at other members are not welcome on this site

Just to let you know that two members have so far received temporary bans for inflaming certain threads.

The third is occasionally we see a member posting to get a reaction, to stir up trouble.
These will be dealt with permanent bans from this site.

I would hope to think that we are adult enough to be able to have discussions on almost any topic here without the need for Admin/Mods to have to Edit, Close or Delete the thread or without having to ban members!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know that this only applies to a very small minority of members here.

Finally, if you feel that you can't comment in a post without keeping it on topic and without making it personal then I ask you to please not post at all.

Thank You
Regards
Stu
