Just got a lovely DVC magazine and its got a lovely write up on the Wonder.
Wonder-ful enhancements
The Disney Wonder cruise ship sailed this fall to the rather un-exotic locale of Norfolk VA. What did Guest think of the trip? Not much. In Fact, there were no Guests on board.
The destination was the Norshipco shipyard, where the ship underwent a series of enhancements projects during a 10-day "dry-dock" period.
New additions included lavish indoor/outdoor treatment suites at the Vista Spa, a 336 -square foot "Ariel" View entertainment screen above the Goofy Pool (used to play Disney movies, popular TV show and major sporting and broadcast events) an expanded fitness centre and other upgrades implemented previously on the Disney Magic ship.
Work continued as crews completed a series of additional Disney Wonder projects, including a makeover of the Quiet Cove, (adult pool area) which now features cascading waterfalls, plush pool cushions and other peaceful details that make this area look and feel like an outdoor extension of the nearby Vista Spa.
Other enhancements were designed for a younger crowd, with the addition of a Sorcerer's Hat - themed toddler splash zone near the Mickey Pool, and expanded Neverland theme within the Oceaneer Club (ages 3-7), the installation of a ship-navigation simulator in the Oceaneer Lab (ages 8-12) and more.
Disney Cruise Line Crew Members also benefited from the dry-dock projects, including enhanced backstage Internet access and a completely refurbished space for the Crew to relax, eat and catch up with friends. The warm and contemporary new "mess hall" now honors the more than 50 nationalities represented by the ship's Crew.
