I'd be grateful for comments re; our draft itenary for next week (we fly out 12:30 from Gatwick on Sunday. We have a 9 year old and a 5 year old.

Mon 2nd Magic Kingdom (early-mid afternoon)
Tue 3rd Seaworld (all day)
Wed 4th Universal Studios (all day)
Thu 5th Typhoon Lagoon (afternoon)
Fri 6th Epcot (all day)
Sat 7th (unplanned)
Sun 8th Animal Kingdom
Mon 9th Islands of Adventure
Tue 10th Blizzard Beach
Wed 11th Magic Kingdom (afternoon/evening)
Thu 12th (unplanned)
Fri 13th (unplanned)
Sat 14th MGM
Sun 15th (unplanned)

I'm guessing that on the first Monday we will wake up early and can hit Magic Kingdom, but won't last the day as we will still be tired from the journey. That's also the reason I have chosen SeaWorld on the Tuesday i.e. for a more relaxing start.

My main doubt with the itenary is not having a free day until the Saturday - will we need a rest before that? We have taken the view that for our first 2 week visit it's impossible to fit everything in, so are leaving out Busch Gardens (as our villa is really close to Disney).

Thanks in anticipation!

Hi

We do Ak on the first day as its not as big as the other parks and closes about 5.30pm.

I see you have 2 unplanned days at he end of your hol I would give yourself a rest day in he first week rather than at the end of it.

You are right you will never fit it all in, don't even try just try and relax a bit.
We tried too hard the first time we went, we enjoyed it better the next time.

Welcome to the Dibb

Where are you going to eat? have you go any ADRs booked.

Enjoy
xx

Thanks for the advise. We haven't planned any meals. What are ADR's?

ADR's are advance dining reservations that people make for table service restaraunts in the Disney parks and resorts. These give you a time to arrive and your party are given the next available table rather than just walking in and having to either wait ages or if its really busy being turned away.

If you wanted to have any character meals with the kids then you really would be advised to book and ADR for those. Are there any particular characters that your kids really like as if there are it might be a treat for them as a surprise one day to book something.

Hope this helps, if you want to know more just ask and someone will help.

Long days!

ADR's are Advance Dining Reservations which are basically table bookings at Disney restaurants. These can generally be made 180 days out.

You are certainly addicted aren't you? My mouth is watering looking at your pictures of your meals!

I hadn't considered booking meals in advance. Are there any particular "must do's" for a first visit with kids?

There are lots of different character meals to choose from. Which characters do your children like and are they boys or girls?

Welcome to the Dibb also!!

Cheers, the Dibb is an excellent resource. We have 2 boys aged 9 & 5, and they like all the usual stuff i.e. Micky Mouse etc, but also Power Rangers and anything cars related.

They will certainly enjoy MGM then. They will be able to meet and have photos and autographs with the Power Rangers. There is also a meet and greet with Lightning McQueen and Mater.

Have a look here,

http://www.allearsnet.com/din/cb.htm

This will show you all the character meals available. Chef Mickeys may be a good choice for your boys and they may enjoy the character breakfast with Stitch.:)

The Dibb has automatically changed my link, but if you have a good look at www.allearsnet.com you will find lots of invaluable info.

OK I've revised my schedule in light of the comments above, to try to spread the free days more evenly. Does this look better now? Is it a problem doing Universal and MGM on consecutive days or are they too similar?

If your boys are into Spiderman then Islands of Adventure have a character breakfast Thursday to Saturday - if it is too late to book any character meals for Disney then try IoA?

Spots first showed yesterday and we fly on Sunday. We are getting a second opinion from another doctor tomorrow morning, but it's not looking good. Even if the spots have scabbed over by Saturday, and we manage to get a Doctors note saying he is not infectious, the risk of the other brother coming down with it when we are out there is too big. If the Doctor confirms tomorrow he has chicken pox, we will probably have to cancel!

What a nightmare for you all!:(

If you have to cancel can you perhaps just move it a few weeks and go at the end of April? Not sure how possible that is but it would be such a shame if you didnt go at all.

Good luck.

Panic over? Spots were fading today and not pussing as you would expect if they were chicken pox. Doctor has confirmed it is not chicken pox, it's a viral rash that is not infecious and he can fly!

Florida here we come!
