We have never been to Busch Gardens and were planning a couple of days there in July. We have been to Animal Kingdom before and thoroughly enjoyed it, but are a bit concerned that Busch Gardens will be an anti-climax as a result of our experiences in Animal Kingdom.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!:)

Not really a comparison in my opinion, they both have features that should be enjoyed on their own individual merits.

There is an animal theme in both, but that is where the simalarity ends.

BG has roller coasters and is a bit more thrill based, where AK has the Disney feel good factor.

i really love both and am looking forward to expidition everest - although we don't actually do the big coasters at busch. the only downside to busch is the travelling, i defo wouldn't miss it but don't think i could manage it twice in one holiday.....save a little something to do next year!

Definately do Busch Gardens - it is great!! It is one of our favourite parks - totally different to AK - still do AK as well. We always run out of time to do everything at Busch Gardens good idea to plan a couple of days if you can. Be aware of the rapids i got absolutely soaked!! There are lots of big coasters here but also plenty for the non-coaster riders to do. Rhino Rally is a great ride.

We liked AK but weren't that impressed with BG at all. Animal interaction wasn't great in either IMO (We are AP holders at Woburn Safari Park so see more and closer there) but with 2 young children BG wasn't very good at all. Great for teens or adults I'd imagine - some of the rides looked great

I re visited BG for the first time in years last year. I remembered it to be a brilliant park and raved about it to everyone but when i went last year i was really disappoited, it wasnt as i remembered.

I compared to Animal Kingdom a lot aswell which i shouldn't because as mentioned they are totally different athough a wee bit similar, did that make sense lol !! BG has more thril rides etc though.

If you havnt seen BG i would go do both, dont miss EE at AK though.

tbh the only thing i liked about BG was the bit with the birds (yes i know thats not the technical term!)
Ima big animal welfare person and always feel so happy walking around AK because all the animals have such incredible exhits.. tbh i didnt feel this was the case at BG, though perhaps i ws just being over sensitive...

i thought the food was AWFUL too

I would do BGs if I had to choose .. so much more there for everyone than AK .. and the drive is not bad at all .. infact got to BGS quicker than we got to universal Studios last year :omg:

dont like to get into this debate but..
as for the 'welfare' dont really see much difference and BGs has been praised in some of the 'anti zoo' literature I have read online.. lots of 'hidden' fences and such in AK on closer inspection , but both are good

the only exception was the Elephants and Dolphin at BGs .. the Dolphin has been at seaworld for years now, not sure what the Elephants gained by crossing over the path but I am sure they have the best available at this time..

going to see the Gorillas at BGs and not spotting any made me happy :) I have seen them many times since but only if they 'want' to be seen :)

Thanks for all your advice, guys:grin:

I'm quite looking forward to Busch Gardens myself, but am very conscious that our travelling companions are on a much tighter budget than we are. :(

BG was my favourite park, mainly 'cos i'm i coaster freak:pgig:

It only takes about 1 hour to get there but it is a long day and well worth it IMO.

Liked AK too but they are different and great in their own way. It's like comparing US and MGM Studios

Do both and make sure that you book the Serengeti Safari at BG (it costs extra but you get to feed and stroke Giraffes) it is brilliant.

They are different but we much prefer Busch Gardens. We like roller coaster rides and Busch has some of the best in Florida, especially Montu and the new Sheikra ride. As for the animals there is a geat variety at Busch, Im also very sensitive about animals in captivity but most of the animals at Busch are a lot better off than being stuck in a Zoo somewhere.
The drive down there is very easy and its only about 70-80 minutes, I often spend that stuck on the M62 each morning to do eighteen miles!!
