Just wondering what Category's and Staterooms everyone has stayed in or is staying in :)
Wondered if somebody might have stayed or is staying in the same rooms.

Yeah, I think our rooms are both the same but at either side of the ship - a cat 5 downgraded to a cat 7 due to the overhanging on the verhanda.:spin:

It tells you on the website Dawn.
Do a dummy booking and you will see.

So you actually choose which one you want? What did you base your choices on then?

When you go through the quote on the DCL web site there is a box that says they will allocate a room number - if you click the link it allows you to choose your own number.

I suffer badly from motion sickness but according to what I've read you can take something for it. The beauty of DCL is you can cancel with no loss of deposit so I'm waiting for trip reports from some Dibbers to see how they get on before we go.

As for the dining - I know you can request tables for 4 only so it might be worth asking if you can request a table for two

Bob_and_Dawn
29 Mar 07, 08:15 PM
I think I have read that the smallest tables are for 4 so we would have to share with at least 1 couple.

As for the motion sickness, sometimes I get it and sometimes I dont. I have done a couple of mini cruises on the North Sea...one no problem and one where I never left the cabin.

Other than those two minor concerns I would be very keen.

cat 4 - room 8056 (not underneath the goofy pool thankgod!)

Bob and Dawn - Tablemates was a worry for me too - there is a long thread on the forum about table mates, maybe if you took late seating and the last late option you would stand a better chance of having a table just for the 2 of you? Otherwise an email to DCL letting them know its your anniversary etc etc and laying it on thick might work ;)

As for seasickness ginger pills are supposed to be marvellous and you can get various pharmasuitical types of motion sickness tablets from the chemist - i suffer REALLY badly so am going to go to my doctors and get a prescription.

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Reports

Review by: JanDave
Ship: Disney Magic Stateroom: 7620 Condition: 5
Deck: 7 Category: 7 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 09/03/05
Notes: Great stateroom with a veranda. This room is considered having an obstructed veranda and is no longer a cat. 5, but a cat. 7. Great location, inside drill (at Animators). Veranda has 2 chairs and a table. No obstruction for us.

Ship: Disney Wonder Stateroom: 7620 Condition: 5
Deck: 7 Category: 7 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 08/28/05
Notes: Excellent cabin! Great location! This is a Cat. 7 that used to be Cat.5 due to a slanted side of the verandah. No big deal!! You get a regular verandah for the price of a Cat.7

Ship: Disney Magic Stateroom: 7620 Condition: 5
Deck: 7 Category: 7 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 06/24/06
Notes: LOVED this room! Verandah was great, the slant did not bother us. No noise here and extemely convenient to Topsiders(the back way, deck 8 stairs) and elevators. Fantastic view of Castaway Cay, especially the banana boats going by.

Ship: Disney Wonder Stateroom: 7620 Condition: 4
Deck: 7 Category: 5 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 07/31/06
Notes: Great view - slightly obstructed from stateroom; but excellent on balcony; near aft elevators; close to restaurants; easy off at Castaway Cay. I'll be requesting it on my next cruise!

Booked a cat 12 Guaranteed stateroom & ended up in a Cat 10 no.1079 so we were upgraded which was great.
Iv since learnt that this is common practice if you book a rooom to be assigned later!
I was not bothered about a view etc.. as knew we would only be in stateroom for sleeping!

And for you Jen -

Ship: Disney Magic Stateroom: 7120 Condition: 4
Deck: 7 Category: 7 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 03/26/05
Notes: Great aft location! This is a previous cat 5 room changed to cat 7 due to curving slope of the ship on verandah. Great price for room, but dummy me did bump head a few times on metal slope. Toilet has a few issues getting clogged up. As with all staterooms I have had (4 total) I feel we should have more control of the AC. For me, staterooms do not get cool enough at times. All in all, 7120 was a good experience.

Ship: Disney Magic Stateroom: 7120 Condition: 5
Deck: 7 Category: 7 Location: Aft
Sail Date: 03/18/06
Notes: Loved this room. Regular balcony for a cat. 7 price. Very quiet. Easy access to Topsiders and the drink station.

Cat. 6, Deck 6 midship, Stateroom # 6056

In January we were booked for the same location, but a few weeks before, I got a call from DCL and we were given a free upgrade to a Cat. 7, though the room was the same as a Cat. 6, it was on Deck 7

Hi

We booked Cat 9 2022 for this july and we changed our mind and asked for upgrade to Cat 8 and they gave us gty? We have to wait until near times.

Last year we booked connecting room 2646 ad 2648.

It was very noisy rooms! Feeling thump engineering go on on.

Have a look at the stateroom reports on the DIS board website (go to discussion boards, then DCL cruise forum. and then look for the FAQ sticky at the top of the page). :wavey:

We booked a cat6 room 6116 for easy access to the (free ) drinks station, Topsiders and Mickey pool.

Last time we were far forward in a cat 9 room 2514 - a lovely quiet location, and we never had a problem with motion despite the common theory that it is worse the further forward you are in the ship.
We had originally booked a cat.12 gty on our last trip, and were upgraded to a cat.10..........right under the ship's night club :( ...so do be careful of those free upgrades (DCL do not recognise 'bad' rooms) - in the end the thought of it was really spoiling the looking forward to the holiday thing, so we upgraded ourselves (ie paid) to get the cat.9 - I'm so glad we did.

PS. The cat.6 is a surprise for my DH2B...he thinks I've booked a cat9 again ;)

LOL We are in a Cat 6 - Number #6550!

LOL this is a review of your cabin

Notes: Very good location, one flight down & your close to kids clubs. Close to mid-ship elevators, but did not hear any noise from them. You can watch them load/unload the ship while in PC. Normally the ship backs into Castaway Cay, so you will have a view of the beach. We however did not back in so we got to see the other side of the Island. We have booked the same room for May 13, 2006!!

and our cabin 6560

Notes: We were moved/upgraded here after 2 noisy nights in 6022. Although this is right at a doorway location, we didn't notice any more hall noise, and we did have a balcony where we were able to watch the fireworks! Mid was slightly more convenient than forward, I felt. This was a perfectly fine room.

Notes: Centrally located, first cabin off the mid ship elevator, excellent location, NO NOISE (except those roving packs of teenagers that everyone complained about), one deck down to kids clubs and movie theater, two decks down to shops and three decks down to dining rooms. No motion detected in the area.

Notes: This was an awesome location. Right at the midship elevator lobby, but we rarely heard any hallway noise. It seemed convenient to everything onthe ship. It was a quick floor down to the Lab/Club, another couple flights to restaurants, guest services, etc. A few flights up and you were at the Goofy Pool. We loved it here and would choose it again!
