I would try and get a room overlooking Arusha rock side savanah as this seems to have an assortment of animals , I seem to remember that all the savanahs have giraffes in them.
Be aware though some of the rooms are a long way from main restaurant and entrance, bus stop and it means a long walk to your room after a long day at the park.
I have stayed in the Zebra trail, about half way down, handy for pool and breakfast and also the ostrich trail near the entrance and one of the shorter trails to stay in.
Pleas see the dibb map I have links below so my ramblings make sense

We have always been located in the building with the white circular dots with a view over Arusha.

The buildings to the left are the new DVC village which has just started being constructed.

We got back a couple of weeks ago and stayed on the Uzima savannah and had giraffes and zebra all the while - wonderful. There are also a couple of viewing areas along the corridors to our room (3550) with lots of opportunities to see other animals - dont recall seeing ostriches though.

I do not think it matters a lot. Overlooking ARUSHA is that prefered by many and if building has started on DVC do will you seea building plot from the affected savanha?
I really hope all this development doesn't ruin my favourite resort.
I am getting a bit worried about my christmas stay.
