We are going from 31st August for 2 weeks and after looking at the many posts regarding ADRs, we are very concerned...we have no idea what to book...which restaurant for which park etc.
Also do we have to do this? we have the DDP this year...so getting worried that eveyone else may have....we have never been this time of year so unsure how busy it will be.
any advice would be great especially working out which place to eat each park.
Thanks in advance

HI,
We are going Aug 12 for 14 nights with DDP. Lots of us from the UK got it free for this time and there has also been some free DDP for US if they rebooked for that time as well. I was anti making ADR's until I joined the DIbb. I got some great advice on here and decided to make a plan of a attack of the parks and then make ADRs for where I planned to be each day. You can always cancel them if you change your mind but if you don't book you might not be able to eat where you want to. It was a lot of hard work finding a suitable restaurant (taking fussy eater DS8 and Veggie DSis so treid to please both). I found the following sites invaluable for cross referencing
http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm - this has all the menus
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/parkhours.php - park hours and EMH
http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw/images2003/languagespecific/eng/nontheme/tickets/07Dining.pdf - details of which restaurants are included in DDP
hope this helps

Agree with Raterfly - you probably need to plan out your itinerary first (thinking about quiet and busy days at the parks), and then think about ADRs.
In reality you still have quite a biit of time, so initially concentrate on any character meals that you would like, then any other special meals.
You "only" have to worry about the table meals, so think about which meal you're more likely to want to sit down for each day.

Hi there.:)
I think making ADR's is a good idea, it won't cost you anything to do other than the cost of the call which cost me 1p a minute to the US with a special number.
It can be quite daunting trying to trawl through the menus and see where you would like to eat. The parks should be quieter than earlier on in August as the US kids will be back to school and the UK kids are not far off going back but the restaurants will be very busy.
The UK had an offer of free dining and it seems lots of people took this up. Disney also offered a bounce back programme for people who were actually at Disney at a certain time. If they booked again there and then they were able to get free dining. They also had a lot of takers for this.
There is speculation now that a general US public offer of free dining may be on the cards and a lot of people are waiting on this.
So i think we can safely say that it may be very difficult to just walk up to restaurants and get a table.
Are you doing an itinerary? What i found worked best for me was to plan an itinerary of which parks on which days. Then i checked out the menus and decided whih appealed to us and i then slotted them into my itinerary.
Why don't you get a rough list of where you fancy dining and then post it on here. There are lots of experienced Disney restaurant Dibbers who will be able to look over your choices.:)
Edited to add, you can make your reservations 180 days out so the sooner you sort your ADR's the better.

With the free DDP offer, then yes you will definately need to book as many ADRs as you can. If you look on menu bar on the top of the page, click on Information then Planning to get a guide to booking them.
What sort of restaurants you want is down to your tastes but here are a few of the popular ones...
Magic Kingdom.
Crystal Palace - breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet with Pooh & friends. A must have I would say!
Cinderellas Royal Table (in the Castle itself). Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Can be expensive as some meals (breakfast and dinner I think) offer a photo package. Great if you have little girls in your party though!
Liberty Tree Tavern - lunch (non character) or Dinner (Mickey & Friends). Serves traditional "Thankgiving" food of Turkey, mash & stuffing. This one is great if you are fed up with fries!
Epcot - the choice here is HUGE but faves include the simply marvelous Le Cellier (steak restaurant Canadian Pavillion), Princess Breakfast (Norway Pavillion) and Coral Reef (upmarket fish restaurant).
MGM - we like Hollywood & Vine (buffet), but Brown Derby is nice (very upmarket for a theme park) and for fun try the 50s Prime Time (where you will be made to eat your veggies or no dessert!) or the Sci Fi Dine In.
AK - Your choice is severely limited here! No real table service restaurants yet (one is being built). flame Tree BBQ offers chicken & Ribs which is quite nice.
Dont forget you can eat at any WDW resort and there are gems to be found at many. Popular choices are Chef Mickeys At the Contemporary (buffet with Mickey & CO), Ohana at the Polynesian, Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian.

I would definitely recommend booking up your Table Service restaurants ASAP! The links posted earlier are excellent for giving you some guidelines on the DDP and restaurant menus. Here is another one with pictures of the food in many parks and restaurants http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/dining/foodphotos/default.asp
I would also suggest reading through the pages in this forum relating to food and the DDP plus ADR's.

I will try to get a plan on the ADRs together and post on here once done
again thanx to everyone your great
just some info if you are interested in 1900 Park fare from allears.net.
The Grand Floridian Resort's 1900 Park Fare will close for refurbishment Monday, July 9, 2007, through Monday, October 1, 2007, and is scheduled to reopen October 2, 2007.
The Grand Floridian Cafe will become the site for both the "Supercalifragilistic Breakfast" and "Cinderella's Gala Feast." These will both be character meals, but NOT buffets (as they are at 1900 Park Fare) -- they will be pre-plated character meals.

OK OK I have cheated.....I have paid (yes paid!!!) for a plan from someone in the states...and I have to say for £4 if the draft plan is anything to go by it looks GREAT!!....she has helped with restaurants and how to tour parks for best times to ride, she really knows what she is talking about and has thought of loads we would have missed and we have been 3 times.
If anyone whats the details please PM me more than happy to pass her details on and for £4 it's worth it I feel.....it's helping us get a good touring plan and dinner plan settled as we have never used DDP before so this helps get the most from the package.
I just cannot seem to be able to collate all the information together into a cohesive plan...anyway if it helps anyone else as I say PM me
