As you will know on our last day we will be meeting at immigration at 6am, them off the ship by 9am. We have a car taking us to the airport at 9.30am, but out flight does not leave until 6.30pm. :(
I am getting worried that this is going to be a really long day for us, mainly just hanging around the airport. Does anyone have any suggestions of things we could do or visit bearing in mind that we will have our luggage too.:erm: Especially as we will have a 10 year old who is likely to get very bored.

Jennifer, are you flying with VA? Could you not get the car/driver to drop you off at DTD checkin, drop your luggage off and then just get a taxi to the arirport later on?
You could have a couple of hours in a WDW park or at DTD, although you maybe shattered with the early start.
Sorry not much help.

Hi
It is difficult situation as we all were tired after leaving the Cruise. We arrived Florida Mall and find out that it was not opened until 12.30 pm. We went back to Villa and had a rest day.
Maybe spend times at Cocoa Beach, have a lunch there or drop cases at airport depend which one? If at Florida airport, that is fine, if at Stanford there is a bit far away.
Florida airport close to Cape Port.
Or drop cases at Florida then go to disney Park?
Hope someone give you any idea.

Why not change the time from 9.30 to 4 pm? I mean car hire then drive around in Florida - shopping or park.
Just a thought

More details - we are flying with Flyglobespan from Sanford. We have not hired a car, but have a driver picking us up at 9.30am. As this is our first time not sure where other beaches/shopping places are close enough to Sanford.

There are some shops on the way to Sanford airport, depending on which way the driver takes you. We have called in there one or two times before going to the airport. I am pretty sure they are on Lake Mary Blvd.
There are no beaches nearby though.
If you can't do that then how about booking into the Royal Palm Lounge at the airport? Details can be found http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/default.asp

We had the same kind of time to kill on our last cruise - although we had hired a car.
I'm presumming the main problem is that you will have all your luggage ? I'm also presuming that you do not want to hire a car from the port (which would be easy to do by the way).
1/ Instead of heading straight to the airport, book a day room in a hotel in Orlando, preferably somewhere on I Drive that has a pool so you can shop, swim & relax for a few hours. Then take a taxi to the airport later.
2/ If you were staying in a hotel before the cruise, you could ask about the possibility of keeping your cases on your return for a nominal fee, whilst you go off and do other things.
3/ Put a post out on the Trip Planning forum to see if anyone knows where there are left luggage facilities in Orlando, and take it from there.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
On our last day we had a very pleasant time hanging out at Downtown Disney and playing crazy golf at the Pirate Cove Mini Golf nearby. I wonder if there is any left luggage facilities at DTD (there is a big guest relations building) - might be worth asking ?

Thanks guys for the advice. I particularly like the idea of the Palm Lounge at Sanford - the website looks good; and going back to DTD for the day and looking for left luggage places.

There are lockers at DTD, but I have no idea if these are big enough for suitcases :confused2
PS The Pirates Golf is 20-30mins walk from DTD (or short taxi ride) at the far end of the Crossroads shopping mall....well worth it though !

How about a day room at the Best Western at Lake Buena Vista in the DTD area if you can't get a locker ? ? :confused2
...its around £65 a night , so I would think a day room, if they will provide one, may not be too over the top ? You'd get the chance to freshen up too, before you left for the airport.

We are hoping to go to KSC the day we disembark. Maybe that would pass a few hours for you. Nice and close by. Maybe not your cup of tea though!!. We will spend most of the sunday there, then return to Disney All Stars Movies for a further 6 nights.

My only other thoughts have been to book a day room at a Port Canaveral based hotel - Ron Jons Resort, or the Radisson 'At The Port', look to have nice pool facilities.
Or leave your luggage at a hotel there (could you ask DCL how long they can hold it for when you disembark ?)..then take a taxi to the beach or KSC (though you'd only have time to do a fraction of KSC and I don't think it opens till 10am ??? correct me if I'm wrong though).
Or spend the morning at the port ..there are a few nice quay side restaurants/cafes where you can watch the coming & goings along the channel, and a pier (not the Brighton type though - no shops !) with public access.
