View Full Version : Alcohol onsite
Hi
Taking my cousin to wdw in Oct/Nov. I don't drink but my DC does. Trouble is she only takes stella artois.:drinkbeer Can anyone confirm if this lager is available in the US and secondly do Disney allow delivery of alcohol? I am thinking of ordering some from 'greengrocers' (i think thats the name) and have delivered and ready when we arrive.
thanks

Hi,from what i can remember it is coors and Michilob(sp) and at the Rose and Crown its harp.
Cannot remember seeing Stella as dh would of drank that but he was drinking micholob.
As for the disney hotel question,i think you can get deliveries but you would need to meet at the entrance as disney sell alcohol in there own shops.
What we done was to get a taxi to the 192 from AKL and stock up as the room had a big fridge.:wavey:

You can get groceries delivered to Bell Services, no need to meet them at the entrance, they will take it in for you, keep it in a fridge if needed and you can collect it when you check in.

Stella is available at The Rose and Crown Pub.
Remember the days when Disney was "dry"?
How long ago was it? Doesn't seem that long, but I bet it was.

yes, it is at the Hospitality Centre. If you buy alcohol at any Universal Park you can only get one drink per ID. I went to a stand near the Mummy to get a drink for me and DH as he was sat watching Blues Brothers and they would only let me have one!
Wish WDW parks were still alcohol free (apart from the restaurants and Epcot) - personal reasons. Cannot see why people can't enjoy themselves without it.

Sharon, its the same at disney even if you have 2 cards.Dh and me had to go the the counter together which for 2 drinks i think was a bit silly.
You can understand if you want to buy 6 or something but not for 2.

i don't think it ever has been, MK always has, but I can remember my dad going into the Rose and Crown in the early 80s and having a pint.
Yup only used to be Rose and Crown that did alcohol in WDW .
thanks guys....don't think my DC will be too pleased if I told her she would be 'dry' for the duration of the holiday!!!!
I must request for a fridge in our room.

I think they ask whatever you are as they asked me last year and I was 35. I wish I was 21!!

There are times in the early evenings when I didn't like Epcot, because the heat and the alcohol had got to some people and they were the worse for wear ...... it put me on edge, which I wasn't keen on.
I do wish alcohol was less available, not sure I understand the need to be drinking round the parks .. but again I guess it's a personal thing ....

Thats Why I Hate Food And Wine In Epcot. Its A Bit Of A Shocker To See Disney Security "arrest" People And Huckle Them Through Cast Member Doors In The Mexico Pavillion.
Why On Earth They Would Want People Drunk Round Theme Park Rides I Will Never Know.

Have to agree with Val...and Peter...last year in Epcot...there was an English guy falling into flowerbeds....a guy in his 40's absolutely legless....it's just not what you want to see in Disney
I have never ever seen anyone drunk at Disney.
And speaking personally, I have never had an alcoholic drink at Disney either.
Seaworld's hospitality tent is another matter ;-).
At nearly 42 I would be delighted if I got asked for ID in Dec - fat chance!!

I've never seen anyone obviously drunk in the parks and only once in the resort (at least I hope he was drunk running naked along the second floor walkway of the fantasia building) sadly another Brit.
Still I enjoy a drink on a night by the pool or at one of the resort bars. Maybe a beer in Epcot.
We left a load of beer and wine in the villa when we left ! Entertainment in this country seems to revolve around drinking . Over there a glass of wine with my meal was all that was needed to hit the spot lol I wouldn't want a drink and then wander around the parks !
I must admit i did feel a bit uncomfortable on a couple of occassions during Food & Wine last year!
We saw a couple of groups of very rowdy and very drunk men! We also saw a couple of woman who had definately had one too many margarites and were making a real spectacle of themselves! :omg:
I'm no prude and am certainly not tee-total, but while i'm in Disney i don't want to be confronted by groups of drunks dancing their way through the crowds!
There's a time and a place and IMHO the parks aren't it!

im a bit surprised by some of the comments made above,i wouldnt have expected to see drunk people in the parks,i think its nice to have some wine with a meal or a cocktail or 2:spin: but i can imagine in the heat it wouldnt take much to tip you over the edge.can you imagine going on rides with a hangover!!!!!!!!!. mo.

my 50 yr old FIL got id'd in rose and crown the other year, my 25 year old hubby did too, but he hadn't brought his, and we all had a glass of wine, and he had coke!!!
I personally couldn't do it again, I was absolutely wasted for the rest of day, spent it tripping round spaceship earth cos it was cold and dark!!
We always have a few beers in for the villa, its so lovely to sit out by the pool with a deck of cards and your friends and have a beer or two.
I must admit the drunkest I was was on the flight over.

I like having a beer in the parks! I agree it should be banned in MK. It is a lot more childish. (also my favorite park!).
However it should NEVER be encouraged. It is quite difficult to find a beer in the Disney parks. Except Epcot. Epcot is a more adult park.
As for stella im sure you can get it somewhere. I have no idea why you would want too, but probably in some supermarkets that sell "british" food and drink.
Just want to add. When in a different country TRY LOCAL THINGS!!!
I agree...when you are in Rome do as the Romans do!!!!
However my DC likes her stella! She is not a heavy drinker....but has mentioned it would be nice to have a beer at the end of a busy day in the parks.

yes, they are WAY stricter on ages than over here than in the US. I used to live in Orlando and we got asked to provide ID EVERY TIME we bought
alchohol. Even just a bottle of wine with our groceries.....and we were in our 30's!! If you don't have ID you will simply not be sold alchohol

When we lived in Orlando we never saw any groups of drunk (or even tipsy )youngsters...........except in Epcot, and guess what.......they were always Brits. I wish they would bring out an over 21 limit over here!!
we have been to epcot f&w, and i did have a cocktail, but I don't know if i would bother again, I found combined with the heat I got very sleepy and 'dull' and really regretted it. (It was lovely to drink though)
I've never seen anyone who appeared drunk in Epcot but I am sure it does happen.

I have no idea of the nationalities of the people we have seen .... not that interested, I just try to avoid them ...... I don't think it is even excessive drinking, I just don't think people stop to think of the effects of the heat and the dehydration this combination causes.... heat, daytime drinking = loopy time quicker and easier than perhaps they would be at home.

Normally I'd disagree with that statement, but this is Disney, and it should be magic without any influences. MK is dry to keep it special. Why stop at MK though?
Just a little snippet (although not sure if still true) - some onsite resorts "card" at 30 - if you are not 30 or look like it they will not serve you unless you can prove otherwise.
..and there's a limit to how much you can buy per person - and the other people have to be present at time of purchase.
We got asked for ID offsite at TGI's (and we were 40 :d: )

Hard Rock Cafe in Universal sells Stella,I was drinking it last time we were there in 2005, nice change from usual US beer.

When ever I've been to disney in Florida it has never occured to me to drink alcohol in the parks, as I'm always too busy running from ride to ride:spin: Also I think I would want a nice long sleep afterwards!

Someone mentioned Food & Wine at Epcot.....when is this?

Usually October MBK - Epcot has lots of extra international food carts and many special events including wine tasting and banqets/tastings with chefs.
Thanks Sue. It sounds interesting....must visit.

I must admit one of the reasons, or should I say, one of the many reasons we go to Orlando for our holidays, is because of the constant presence of drunken Brits wherever you go in Europe, it really depresses me. I love a beer or bottle of wine at the end of the day, but I cannot for the life of me wonder why anybody needs alcohol to enjoy all the fantastic elements that are available in Orlando. Don't mean to sound like an old git, which I may well be, but there, I've said it....and I can't stand Stella, it gives me one hell of a headache! Bud light is good!
I was surprised to learn (on my first visit) that alcohol was available in Epcot. I seem to remember a pub that sold alcohol. Having said that, I never saw anyone legless.
I do not drink myself (the original question refers to my cousin who drinks stella) but at the same time do not mind if people having a few drinks. What I don't like are lager louts (sp)!!! From the earlier responses, it seems there will be a few people over indulging during the Food & Wine festival.
