We went on our honeymoon too! Paradise! You will love it, so romantic.
We flew to Male airport, then got a float plane out to our island.(came back to the airport by speedboat). The food was very good, it was all inclusive, and the service was above and beyond. We were even taken out one evening by boat the the deserted next island, with a chef and a waiter and they set us a table on the beach and we had a meal to celebrate our first week of marriage!
I sooooo want to go back!

Thanks guys really looking forward to it, should be a bit different because I've never done a real beach holiday before!

I'm really looking forward to this part, we are staying in a brand new resort (Herathera Island Resort) in Addu Atoll. The acoom is a beach villa on our own remote island, we have to get another small plane to Gan airport then a 10 minute speedboat trip to reach it! should be interesting.

No but i wanna ! sob !

Im sure I can fit ya in my suitcase ;)

I would love to go but i know BF would be a bit bored as he doesnt like the beach thing for more than a couple of days, We have friends who wemt on honeymoon and they said it was very nice but they were bored too they ended uo doing there diving instructor course whilst there, They then transferred to Dubai for a week afterwards and preffered it there.

I sure you will hava a great time just take plenty of books, and cds.

Hi Ben

We went in Oct/Nov last year:) It was fantastic

We flew with first choice which was ok.... just seemed a long flight. From Male we caught a sea plane to Meeduphura? Island resort in the RAA Atoll.... that flight was awesome.(though noisy) the amazing colours of the sea and atolls were just stunning.
We had a bungalow just a few meters from the sea. This resort was 4* in the First Choice brochure but I would only give it a 3* rating. The food was great and the overall standard was pretty good, but the staff were wonderful and really made our holiday. We didn't wear shoes for 2 weeks, did loads of snorkeling which was great and spent time at the Spa and just chillin'
I would definately go to the Maldives again:grin: although I would go to another(smaller) Island

I'm sure you'll have a great time:wavey:

PS take a high factor suntan lotion and check out tripadvisor for further information.

The World's First All-glass Undersea Restaurant Opens

The Maldives - 15 April marks the day that the first ever all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors for business at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. It will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean , surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views.

"We have used aquarium technology to put diners face-to-face with the stunning underwater environment of the Maldives", says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. "Our guests always comment on being blown away by the colour, clarity, and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it seemed the perfect idea to build a restaurant where diners can experience fine cuisine and take time to enjoy the views - without ever getting their feet wet."

Created by MJ Murphy Ltd, a design consultancy based in New Zealand , Ithaa's distinctive feature is the use of curved transparent acrylic walls and roof, similar to those used in aquarium attractions. "The fact that the entire restaurant except for the floor is made of clear acrylic makes this unique in the world," continues Schieck, "We are currently planting a coral garden on the reef to add to the spectacular views of the rays, sharks and many colourful fish that live around the area

Went to the Hilton last year.................absolutely fabulous place. The Ithaa undersea restaurant is amazing, as is the whole resort.

Surprised DW for her **th birthday and am still in the good books for doing so ;) I really cannot speak highly enough of this hotel (which will be re-branded the Conrad after December), it is paradise and you are really made to feel special. No wonder it has won so many awards and was named 'world hotel of the year'.

I could go on and on and on about it and if anybody wishes to know more please ask. Can't wait to go back (would have gone this year again but the kids won the argument to go to WDW!!!!)

We went 2 years ago and we loved it so much we're hoping to go back this November!!

It was absolute paradise. We stayed at Sun Island a 4/5* resort which was lovely but quite big - think we're going to try a smaller, more exclusive resort this time, possibly the Hilton Rangali Island although not sure yet if funds will stretch given expensive 3 week holiday to Disney next month - have bought some lottery tickets for tomorrow night though so fingers crossed!!

Neither me nor my husband are beachy people but it was just so beautiful and relaxing that we both felt wonderfully at home there!! We did get cabin fever after about 10 days though as you can't really leave your island so I think this year we're going to do 4 nights Dubai, 10 nights Maldives.

And yes the sea plane is fantastic - real highlight of the trip!

You're going to have a fantastic time!!

Hiya
We went for our Honeymoon 5 years ago, to the then brand new resort of Medhufushi in Ari Atoll.......BEAUTIFUL......
It was a very small island and the beach villa was right on the beach but very private, you have your own swing on the porch and a little urn full of water to wash your feet before you enter your villa because you walk barefoot everywhere.
We walked around our island in less than an hour it was that small, but if you wanted company the people working in the bars were really friendly.
You will absolutely love the place.
