We want to book a little holiday, somewhere in Europe, but apart from a few trips to spain and Austria all of our holidays have been in the USA.

So can anyone recommend a place in the sun that they've been to.

We want to travel around mid June, not interested in night clubs (too old).

Any Suggestions?

We love Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. Smallish resort (compared to Puerto del Carmen) with nice shops, restaurants, bars and a lovely new marina. There are some great hotels as well. We have previously stayed at the Timanfaya Palace hotel 4* great food and fab pool area suitable for families and couples. However in 2 weeks time we are trying a new hotel Gran Castillo Colorades 5* which is at the other end of the resort, fingers crossed it will be nice. I can't wait for some warm sunshine!!!

Skiathos - a fab Greek Island, quiet mostly with fab beaches and good restaurants. Plenty to do in Skiathos Town, but away from there just peaceful and lovely. Does not seem to attract the holiday idiots!
Alonissos (same group of islands) is nice too, but may be too quiet? There is one hotel, about 6 tavernas and all close down by 11pm!

If it's not a "lying by the pool" holiday you're after then how about a short break in Barcelona - it's a fabulous city with loads to see and do and a great atmosphere!

Give Austria a try...It's gorgeous in the summer...loads to do and see...a lot of people think of it as only a winter destination...we've always had really hot weather whenever we've been

We have been to Menorca many times and love it. Not too busy or too quiet.
Give it a try.

Went to the far western end of the Algarve (near Alvor) for a week last Novemer and it was one of the best weeks away we've ever had; good weather (20 degs+ and sunny every day in late November), excellent food, not too busy, pretty uncommercialised, fab. beaches and exceptionally nice locals.

I'm spoilt for choice now.... I've run all suggestions past DW (Sharon) and she says they all sound great... This could cost me a fortune
