We have booked to have a meal at Mitsukoshi on our first day in Orlando. Although I am really looking forward to the whole experience, however as I have never had sushi before, just wondering what other peoples experiences were. Also are there any recommendations on what to have for both myself and a 10 year old?:thumbs-up

I love sushi, and had the Spicy Tuna Roll (tuna mixed with chili pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil and reverse rolled in sushi rice and seaweed), it was melt in the mouth, very light, and very tasty. Although it was called 'spicy' it wasn't really spicy.

Giving this a gentle BUMP.
Just hoping more than 1 person has been and enjoyed this restaurant.

We were there on Friday. We didn't have sushi, though.
They gave us a small bowl of seaweed to start with. Bizarrely, my cautious eater of a 9 yo DD liked it (cautious, rather than picky, as she enjoys lots of things, but getting her to try them is the big trick) but I wasn't keen. Then DH had a peapod starter thingy (think it is soya beans). You take the "pea" bit out of the pod to eat it, rather than eating the whole thing like a mange tout, and it is quite salty. I had a garden salad with a ginger sauce. We agreed we could happily have missed the starters.
Then we all had entrees off the hot plate. DD had chicken, I had beef and chicken, and DH had chicken and scallops. It is done with ginger, soy sauce, etc. and served with stir fried onions, courgette, mushrooms and noodles, and a bowl of boiled rice too.
We didn't have dessert (too full) but there was fresh pineapple, ginger ice cream, green tea ice cream - stuff like that.
We also had the tea (jasmine?) to finish with.

derynifan - you haven't said whether you enjoyed it or not....

LOL.
Yes, with reservations. We got a non-showman chef. We got an onion volcano, and he caught a shrimp tail on his hat, but the others were juggling with their knives and all sorts. Not a biggie, as we could watch the others, but would have been nice if the show had been for us iykwim? It also worked out the most expensive meal we had at WDW, which was OK as it was our last night, but it wasn't the one we enjoyed most.
Also the ladies in there was truly appalling. I know it is being refurbed soon, so I hope that it will be gutted, as the stink in there was shocking and the bins were overflowing towels etc. Not what I expect from Disney at all.
So nice, but not fantastic, and next time we'll try one of the other Epcot restaurants (which we would have done anyway, as we like to try different places).
Ohana, however, is now firmly on the "must do" list with all of us!
Hi,
Im a bit confused - I thought the restraunt with the hot plate & onion volcanos etc was teppanyaki not Mitsukoshi ? can any anyone confirm? could anyone let me know what the difference between the 2 restraunts are? I want to make an ADR but dont want to end up in the wrong restraunt!

It's officially the Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki. It is above a store which is Mitsukoshi, but the restaurant I think is called the Teppanyaki. It says Mitsukoshi above the door.

Thanks for that :o:

I understand the tables are for 8 people. There are 8 adults and 1 child in our party...are we going to end up split over 2 tables?

Don't know, we had 7 at our table - 3 of us and 4 Americans. May depend on how big the child is as to whether you could squeeze an extra in.
