We have booked for Vegas this June/July and our intention is for 2 nights in Vegas drive to Monument Valley overnight there, then drive to Tulsa to spend 4th July with friends.[not in 24 hours I should add !!!!]
We will then fly back to Vegas. All the plans are coming along but would welcome any input on various route suggestions.
It is basically one road after we have done Monument valley on the 40 from Flagstaff, so it is the best route from Vegas to MV we need.
Oooh, something I might be able to help with. :pgig: I've got my photo album propped up on the desk with the map of the route we did around those parts.
We went from LV via Hoover Dam on the 93. Along the 40 to Flagstaff where we overnighted. Then on 180/40 to Chambers, turned left on the 191 to MV. We stopped at Canyon de Chelly which really really was worth a visit. IMHO much better than Monument Valley. We should have booked ahead at C de C as there were only two hotels there and they were both full. We had to drive all the way back to Chambers (70 plus miles) and got the last room on a motel (I think the only one there). You could do a detour and just before Flagstaff travel on the 64 to the Grand Canyon and then after GC, continue on 64 till you meet the 89, go north on the 160 and then turn left on to the 163 to MV.
Any questions, please just ask.

Thats great thanks Jan, it is easier when you speak to someone who has already done that route because looking at the map there are so many options.:spin:
I thought that the 191 route back to the I40 would be better and we can go via C de C as so many people say it is well worth a visit.
Not too bothered about GC as we have done it before but never quite made it to MV due to bad weather. Hubby really wants to do MV so we thought we would try again choosing a better time of the year. So much planning to do though.
Thanks again:wavey:
