Free DDP

Quick Question

When does the free DDP for UK visitors start? If its early August then that's when we will be there, We have paid for DDP :( If it does cross over do you think we should ask VH for a refund? I would be rather miffed if I'd paid whilst everyone else from UK were dining for free :cry:

There will be people there with free dining from the 5th Aug who booked via the bounceback programme. I think Virgin offered it to people travelling from the 12th Aug.

You wont be alone though, I will have to pay for it aswell now :( .

As far as i remember it was for August 12th(maybe 13th) to Sept 29th.

Do you mean ask Virgin if you can get the DDP for free instead or just get a refund and not have the DDP?

It's about mid August that it starts. It's to encourage more people to visit at traditionally quieter times which I don't think the first 2 weeks ish of August usually are.
Even if you were within the dates I doubt they'd refund at this stage. They did for some people as a goodwill gesture who had booked for departures during the offer period before the offer was announced but this would only have been when the offer was actually bookable (September and October last year was the booking period I think)

Whether you get the free DDP or not depends on when you booked and when you travel, there were qualifying dates for both. If the free DDP was not offered to you then I am guessing you fall outwith the qualifying dates for one or the other.

It was offered by UK tour operators for arrivals between 12th August 07 and 29th September 07 but you had to book by 6th November 06.

Disney also offered a bounce back offer for similar dates to guests staying in WDW last year.

The free dining offer for the UK ended in November so you won't be able to get free dining with VH. You are able to purchase it but i don't know if they allow you to add it to your booking or not.:confused2

If it is made available to everyone then presumeably it would be tough (as if it's not hard enough already) to get ADR's if you added the plan late.

This is one of my concerns, OK it may only cross over for a few days if at all. But those few days will be pretty hellish to try and get an ADR. I didn't know about the Bounce Back scheme something I may Clarify with VH.

Bounce Back was for people staying in WDW in Nov/Dec 2006 and they had to re-book (direct with Disney) within a month to qualify for free DDP.

It looks like it is available again for US bookings from 26th August to end Sept, check out Mousesavers. Unfortunately it is no good for us, we are booking through a US travel agent but it would "cost" us an extra $140 when compared to our AAA discount as it comes out for our last few days there so we would have to buy extra park tickets to qualify :(.
