We're not sure if there's a different triband or something?

Thanks

I think that if you want to use a UK phone over there, it needs to be a quad band phone. So that suggests that a non quad band phone here will not work. Therefore this would then suggest that the US phones operate on a band that our phones over here do not ordinarily have so presumably a US bought phone will not work here, unless it is also a quad band phone?

I think you'll need to ask the sales person there - the gumph that comes with a phone should tell you if it will work in UK/Europe.

Not sure this would work, TBH. We bought some cheapo PAYG phones to use out there and they don't work quite like ours. You have to pay for airtime as well as minutes and keep them topped up so you don't lose your number etc. A bit like how it used to be here when it first started. They are also mostly (if not all) locked to the network so wouldn't work over here.

You could buy a non-network phone but that would costs $100's.

Is the phone you want really that much cheaper that it would be worth while??!

Thanks for your help, it was just an option we were looking at, however I got one this afternoon from ebay. Just biting my finger nails till it arrives and looks/works ok now!
