Clearwater to Busch Gardens???

Hi was thinking of going to Clearwater for the day and cant find out if it is near to Busch Gardens as we may decide to stay over at clearwater and go the next day on way back to lbv what do you think??? Is it worth it or should we go on a different day?

From clearwater beach
take the courtney campbell causeway out of clearwater to join the 1-275,
Travel NORTH on I-275 to the FOWLER AVENUE exit. (Exit # 51, formerly Exit # 34) Turn east (right) onto Fowler Avenue and proceed 2.5 miles to McKinley Drive. Turn south (right) onto McKinley and proceed to the main parking lot entrance.

itsabout 30 miles from clearwater beach so should take less than an hour!

We've done this on a couple of occassions, stayed at the best western in clearwater , then done Busch on the way back the next day, takes around 30 mins to get there.

We went to Busch Gardens first thing and then spent late afternoon/evening in clearwater and got back to the villa about 8pm it would have been nice to stay over in clearwater but we didn't have time but it was ok to do in a day. Busch Gardens to Clearwater took about 40 mins

we are doing Busch Gardens for the day then staying in Tampa @ La Quinta Inn formerly Baymount). We were planning to go back into BG for a couple of hours next morning then drive across to Clearwater for the rest of the day & early eve. I read somewhere there is some entertainment at dusk on the pier. I don't know what others with more experience think of this plan??
