Ok peeps, theres always lots of threads on here about NYC but im not asking about the city itself just flight connections.

Im trying to price a 2 night stay in NY then a 6 night cruise with a one night stay in NYC again before we fly home, in July this year.

Ive seen a couple of cruises so im ok with that but im just trying to get cheap airfares. Glasgow to Newark with Continental (whom i used last time) are roughly £500 pp. Now i just saw cheaper flights with an airline ive never heard of and want to ask a couple of questions.

1. Zoom airlines - has anyone used them ? £39.50 plus taxes going & £79 plus taxes return. Works out at roughly £220 (cant remember exact price)

2. If i do choose them i need to travel from London Gatwick to NY but i first have to travel with Ryanair from Prestwick to Stansted.

How long will it take me to collect bags at Stansted and get across to Gatwick ? DH says possibly 2 hours. I need to make sure i can make check in as i dont want to be one of those people you see on the TV moaning about traffic :d: Ryanair to Stansted 1p plus taxes.

3. WHat is the best way to get to Gatwick from Stansted ? Taxi ? Is there a bus service ? Anyone know the cost ?

Thanks in advance

No idea how to get from Stanstead to Gatwick but it sounds like a real hassle - looking at Zoom how about a completely different approach.

Fly Glasgow to Canada (I priced Toronto and it looked cheap enough) and then get a cheap flight from Canada down to NY. I think that will be less hassle and there should be plenty of connecting flights from Canada to NY - you can try Newark, JFK or La Guardia

Where are you cruising from? I am assuming it's a Florida cruise, but maybe I am way off base? if so, why not do your city break in Canada rather than New York?

This (http://www.milesfaster.co.uk/information/stansted-airport/stansted-to-gatwick-transfers.htm) will give you a good idea of the different ways to get to Gatwick from Stansted.

You'll be pretty quick getting out of Stansted as it's a pretty small airport but TBH I think it'd be a bit of hassle changing but you may be willing to do it. Funnily enough I was there at 5am this morning and compared to other London airports it's very easy to negotiate.

I think to get opinions on Zoom you'll have to do an extensive search on the specialist flight sites as the service from LGW to JFK hasn't actually started yet. Try googling Zoom along with Canadian destinations and you may get some opinions on their service, I know the prices are very competitive though.

Worth considering, i will price them up, also the cruise is from New York not from Miami. Wanted to stop over in NY for at least one night before cruising. Prices from NY are quite cheap at the moment to cruise from albeit Miami cruises are cheaper.

I did consider going from Miami but if i wanted to take in NYC then id have to fly to Newark then to Miami, cruise then sail back to Miami and hopefully get a flight from there.

Also i agree the whole P'wick to Stansted to LGW then NYC and back again is a blooming nightmare
