View Full Version : anyone done the keys?

Been to everglades, miami, marco island, naples, tampa, clearwater DH keen to go to the keys, has anyone been on a one night/two day trip without doing two centre hol? i'm led to believe its a long drive :erm: from miami ner mind orlando. is it possible? thanx;)

Yes I have been to the Keys and stayed in Ilsamorada which is about 1/2 way down the keys, took about 2 hours from miami airport and once out on to the main highway its just 1 straight road.... we stayed 3 nights and it was part of a 4 centre stay which we sorted out with virgin very easily.

Hi Sarah,

We did a trip down to Key West last time there. We drove from Orlando to Key Largo, did an overnight stay and then continued on down to Key West for a two night stay, the drive from Key Largo to Key West is only about 100-120 miles but it takes a while as there is a lot of single road with slow moving traffic, It took us about three hours or so.

It was well worth the trip, I wish we had stayed in Key West for a few extra days as there was quite a bit to see and do, we did a sunset cruise out to the reef in a glass bottom boat and it was fabulous. You may notice that my DIBB picture on the left is taken at the famous Key West landmark, 'only 90 miles to Cuba'

Go for it, well worth the drive, also during the drive you see all parts of Florida, the Keys are so relaxing.:cool2:

We are having 3 nights in Miami and 2 nights in Key West shortly, so will take phots and post trippies. really looking forward to it as we have not been that far south before.

We Stayed In Marathon Key For A Week, That's Like One Of The Middle Keys, It's Lovely. We Did Key West For A Day And Loved That Too!! It Was A 2 Hour Drive From Miami For Us.... Think You'll Need A Stop Off From Orlando!
