View Full Version : Signatures
Hi,
We have changed the way Signatures work.
We no longer allow the Tags in signatures.
The reason for this is we are seeing a massive increase of external linked images, this is bad news for the speed of this site because when you view a post you have to wait until the external site delivers the image, if this external site is slow then it slows our site down too.
To add an image to your signature you can now upload an image to our server using the Edit Signature option in UserCP (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/usercp.php)
1. Click Edit Signature in your UserCP
2. In the Signature Picture section use Option 1 or Option 2 to select an image.
3. Click Save Signature
4. Click Insert Signature Picture, this will add tags in the signature message box. The picture will only appear when these tags are present in the signature.
5. click Save Signature
If you have lost your image and your current signature just shows a URL to the picture then just paste that URL into Option 1 of the above instructions.
[IMG]http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8766&stc=1&d=1176835743
You can delete and change your Sig image at anytime as many times as you wish.
Apologies for the inconvienance of having to edit your signature, but I can assure you it is in the interest of keeping this site running smoothly for all members.
Signature Size Limits:
Regular Members = 500 wide x 200 high and 30Kb
DIBB AP Holders = 500 wide x 200 high and 50Kb
Regards
Stu
Thanks Stu, all done :thumb:

Sorted, thanks Stu.
Hmm, odd... I have tried to replace my old IMG tagged version with the new SIGPIC tags version, and without adding or changing anything else in the sig, the DIBB now says that I'm using more than 10 lines and won't let me re-save the signature file... If I remove one blank line (thus making 9 lines) then it will let me preview fine, but as it was OK before I don't know why it's not OK now. Any thoughts?

i have done mine but have lost my crocs signature that i only got yesterday off vabeth, oh well
I take it you can only have one picture then so its my glitter signature or the red shoes???
mmmm heels or glitter???? heels or glitter????
I've only recently opened up a photobucket account so that I can put my own photos on here to show you when called for. Will I still be able to do that if I upload my photos to photobucket first or will I have to put them on another way now?

now im getting invalid url, help help
It's easier still if you just copy your current picture's URL, which can still be seen in your sig at present (that's all the text which starts with "http:" and ends with the filename itself, such as "ambersmom.gif"). Then just paste that whole lump of text straight into the "Option 1" line in the DIBB signature setup space, and press Enter. You should now see the picture appear under the heading "Your current signature picture". Then you can just delete the old link completely, and insert the new text wherever you want in your sig, and you're done.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE
I got this when I still had the [img tags on either end in the address box... don't know if this is your problem but if it is then try taking them off and see what happens .. click preview first ..and then if your picture appears in the add picture box then click the box and see what happens ..
sorry I had to play and play with it and then resize in photobucket and try all over again befor i got mine to work .. albeit teeny weeny now
Stu, is there any chance of allowing 2 pictures? I had two Gifs - both of which were loaded on to the Dibb gallery so there were no issues re different sites but now I am restricted to one. :(

You need to have the new code:
Instead of the current link to the actual graphics, which is still in your sig.
Andre
You need to add your picture using option 1 or option 2, as per the instructions at the start of this thread.
Then as Andre has said above, all you need in your signature is
You don't need anything in the middle of
You should remove any Tags
and you should remove any URL's ie http://www...... or www.....

ive tried and tried all im getting is invalid file followed all the tips giving up had enough
if you are getting invalid file then it means the file is corrupt or it's in a format we don't recognise or it's got unconventional characters in the file name.
save the image to your desktop, make sure it's a .jpg or .gif
If the file name has spaces or %20 or non alpanumeric charaters in it then just rename it with something english with no spaces like mypic.jpg
Now just use the browse option as per the instructions on the first post of this thread

How do i change my countdown?
The current countdown i have appears to be increasing not decreasing as i think it related to d.o.t. 29/12/06.
Our next 2 dates of travel are DLP 21/06/07 and WDW 06/10/07.
Just click on the "User CP" (Control Panel) link and then choose Edit Options from the left-hand side. Countdowns are set in the Thread Display Options section - just replace your old details with a new date & location.
