Ryanair snacks etc are very expensive, I flew from Dublin to Edinburgh at the weekend and it cost me €5.50 for two cups of tea :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

They are expensive - dont bother! Take your own snacks and buy a bottle of water airside of security. Either that or have a big meal before you board.

Malta, went there a few years ago and found it very reasonable, we stayed in Selima and it was so peaceful, people sooooooo helpful.

Like most European places there can be found all from the big mac to the traditional Maltese places, from memory my wife and I felt well fed on approx £25.00 a day including beer and wine.

Don't do it , don't go to Malta it's pants! Spent a boring week there about 7 years ago. It's great if you like churches, and are over 80 years old lol. The people who live there were fantastic and really friendly, just nothing to do, the bars shut early on a night and it bored the pants of me and hubby. Worst place I've been to.Sorry.

we have been several times before and love it but havn't been for a while and not with a budget airline. i wasn't sure if the cost of living had gone up.we actually love it there! lots of lovely hikes, beautiful old towns and villages. stayed in sliema and walked the promenade to the patisserie most nights after dinner and had gorgeous "norty" cakes and cofee. the view over the coastline to valletta harbour at night is stunning. but then we are nearer to 80yrs than we like to be. a friend of mine loathed it too, she said it was the most miserable bit of rock she had stayed on

Malta is a beautiful Island and the people are very very nice. I always used to stay in Bugibba, there is a bay called Melliah Bay and ists lovely, you can wade really far out to see and the waters clean and warm.

It certainly isn't a "rockin" place to go though its tranquil, peacefull and historically beautifull, the buildings are amazing and the different examples of history from Saint Pauls day, through Napoleon, and up to the 2nd WW are amazing.

If your after a knees up though, not really the place to go.

I would find the 4 hour flight a tad uncomfy on a budget airline though. Also don't skimp on the cost of your accom, there are some fabulous hotels and some cockroach ridden flea pits, not much in between.
