Hi All

With the exchange rate at the moment we're thinking about booking a couple of days at a Universal Hotel, but do we have to pay for the rooms in advance if we book online or can we pay when we arrival.

We're not booking our flights until nearer the time, so it may be that we have to change our reservation dates if we can't fly on the 4th as we have planned. Has anyone had any experience of this and is it easy to do?

Is anyone has any recommendations about which hotel to choose, that would be great. We'll be celebrating our first wedding anniversay, so we want it to be a bit special. :inlove:

Thanks
Claire

normally they ask for payment upfront when booking online (well they have in my experience)

Yes, they ask for 1 night's room rate when you book online, but it's easy to change or cancel - you can do that online too.

We have stayed in all three hotels, and our fave is Hard Rock Hotel, but then we do have teens. For a first wedding anniversary (I'm assuming it's just the two of you?) I would recommend the Portofino, it's very 'couply', if you know what I mean, and very romantic when the opera singers stand on the balcony in the evening and sing. :D

We booked the HRH for 1 night and had to pay then as we only wanted 1 night and they ask for 1 night room rate to pay. But we had to change our arrival date recently and it was no problem at all and we kept the same reservation number.

They are very helpful.:)

There is just the two of us, so something widely romantic sounds perfect -- plus after listening to Opera we can go and ride the hulk. Sounds like the ideal holiday! :pgig:

I think we'll probably go for it. With such a good exchange rate, plus if we stay four nights we get a 7 day park pass it works out excellent value for money.

I can't wait now. :D

We're staying 3 nights at RPR, booked on-line & paid one night as deposit. The balance is due when we check out + anything we have charged to the room. It has already worked out cheaper than last year as the exchange rate is so good. Hope it stays high til we go!

i have booked two rooms for october and they have took money straight out of my account for its just for one night, and they usually do when it is for one night,so they will charge you in full.

There's no problem if you change dates (unless of course there aren't any rooms available!), I've altered my dates before now and they've been excellent at immediately re-imbursing my credit card and then me paying again for the one night for a different date.

 If you are a member of the AA here - when you go onto the Universal website put in AAA in the promotional codes box and that usually generates a discount. I was never asked for my card ever when I booked in to the various hotels however.;) I think they assume everyone is a member of the AAA over there!

I like that idea :D I'll probably feel so guilty though, that'll I'll end up joining the AA!!!! ;)

We've worked out that with the fantastic exchange rate and the offer they're doing at the moment giving away a 7 day pass, to stay at the Portofino is £100 a night. Which, I know is expensive compared to other hotels on IDrive, but it just looks fantastic.
