Thinking of booking up for Cuba next year. We have not been to Cuba or anywhere in the Carribean before and was just wondering what anyone thinks of Cuba. We are looking to stay at Guardalavaca, what excursions are there?
Thanks for any replies.

We went to Cuba a few years ago although not that resort, we stayed in Cayo Coco and it was beautiful although there was not much to do outside the hotel. We stayed at a Melia resort and it was really good, one of the best all inclusive holidays we've had. In terms of excursions we took a trip to Havana although it was expensive as we had to fly from where we were staying - Cuba is a big island. But it was well worth it. Don't know what Guardalavaca is like but I would choose your hotel carefully especially if you're staying all inclusive. I don't think there are many places to eat outside of the hotels.

Thanks Michelle. Is there plenty to do in the hotels besides sunbathing? how good are the watersports? Is it suitable for children aged 14 and 12?

I would think it very much depends on where you stay as to what the facilities are like and what activities are on offer. Our hotel did the usual water polo / beach volleyball etc. Can't remember there being any watersports on offer but again that would depend on the particular hotel.

We've been to Cuba twice and loved it! We stayed on Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo which are small islands just off the mainland and had a fabulous time! i wouldn't worry about not having enough to do as most of the hotels lay on plenty of evening and daytime activities to suit all ages!
I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time!
