we are jusst back from disney and universal and i am curious as to why uni charge for their fastpasses whereas with disney you dont have a charge. i fely it wasnt worth the $170. for a family of 4, but at busy times you just have to put up with the 45min queues. i didnt realise you could purchase different tickets so it might be worthwhile to check before you go.
luckily the day for ioa was cold and damp so wasnt too busy, the main problem seemed to be every ride we were waiting for broke down, honest it really did happen.

Thats the reason we are boycotting The universal parks this year, we had the same problem last year, both parks have really gone down hill fast, were sticking to Disney where the customer still comes first.

For $170 you could have stayed for one night at the RPR hotel and had 2 days front of line! If there are a few in your party and depending on what time of year you go (for the prices of the FPs), it is worth looking at staying over.
If my kids were given the choice of Disney or US/IOA, the latter wins every time!

Agreed 100%.
found uni had gone down hill, staff at ioa a tad better. But this thing about charging for fast passes... what a cheek. Give me Disney anyday.
I hear what you are saying, peeps, but I can't do without my coaster fix! In the grand scheme of things, on a vacation costing a few thousand pounds, I can justify a couple of hundred to get FOTL at the coasters and other adrenaline rides. JMO

We stayed on site last year and found the FOTL passes invaluable but i must agree you should not have to pay for a fast pass it never used to be like this and even though there old system never worked as good as Disney at least it was fair after paying out for tickets for all the family you shouldnt be expected to pay again to get a fast pass

We paid out $260 last year for family of 5 but we did find it worth while and we only do this one day the other days we visit we get there really early.

We are staying one night at HRH to get two days fotl (and DH has always wanted to stay there). It is expensive (£200) but that is peak season for five of us and we felt that as a one off it was worth it.
We have paid £180 for the 5 of us to stay at RPR for one night to get FOTL passes . It worked out cheaper to do that and get the 2 day 3 rd day free with free kids tickets than to get the 14 day tickets which we had last time . With FOTL passes for 2 days we should get it all dne and not need 14 days anyway ! But i agree it is a scam , while peole are willing to pay it though and they are makng extra cash they will do it ! But their visitor figures show they are losing popularity !
i think it is a ploy to get people to use their hotels more (i am)

But their visitor figures show they are losing popularity!I've paid to get in - I'm not paying again to get quicker access to the rides. I believe the attendance figures are dropping at the Universl parks - maybe they are just trying to make them resort extensions?
I think the key for us will be to get there very early and come back late after shopping excursions to catch what we miss ... but I am not giving them anymore of my money!

I tend to agree my plan is to not pay extra, people talk about 45min queues without a pass but that actually seems quite short to me having spent 1hr per ride queue in Legoland for rides which aren't really worth the wait. I have a five day pass if I get to day five without having done much I might have to reconsider but I hope not. :mad2:

We purchaced express passes for our trip now i have found out im pregnant so i guess they will be no use at all! shall give away the unused passes to someone when we are there!
can you not try to get a refund or sell them on, i am sure some dibber will trust you
maybe get a Dr note to prove your preggers and they dont think you are trying to pull a fast one. have you tried to give your ticket seller a ring

thanks I bought them direct from universal on their site....To be honest have not checked to see if we can get a refund yet. I guess i was hoping we would still get some use out of them but maybe not. Perhaps we could go to customer services when we get there. Lat time we were there we gave our partly used tickets away.
