Going in 4 weeks and just had a phone call from TCD.
This was like a bolt out of the blue, they have advised us to change hotels as the Sheraton safari is one of 3 hotels that is hosting a GAY Festival / conference in the week of 26th May to 2nd June. (Grosvenor is another)
We are not homophobic in the least but with young children and elderly grandparents we have decided to move hotels.
We have the choice of Rosen plaza, crowne plaza, homewood suites, wyndham resort. We need to choose quickly as they will be booked up.
Which one would you recommend.
Also big thanks to TCD, not all tour operators would do this for you. My sister is flying on virgin to meet us there, and they have not informed her. When she asked she was told there would be a charge to move.

That's really good service! We are stopping at the Royal plaza in LBV so can't really help. Why don't you go on trip advisor?

Gosh, a big thumbs up for TCD :thumb:
DH and i have stayed at both the Rosen Plaza and Crowne Plaza Universal and we would opt for Crowne Plaza without any hesitation. Beautiful clean hotel, comfiest beds in the world  , nice pool area with loads of available towels, friendly staff, transportation to all the theme parks and conveniently placed just off I Drive. You couldn't go wrong there.
Have a great time

Hi,
We have stayed at Wyndham Orlando Resort and really enjoyed our stay. It has beautiful grounds, and the rooms are a good size. My sister-in-law stayed at Crowne Plaza in February and said it was beautiful. The Rosen Plaza always looks really nice but ive heard there are a lot of conferences held there.
Good luck with choosing your hotel.

I'd want to move to if I was you...only because I've seen the pics from the gay weekends and they do get pretty wild...the Royal Plaza's another gay weekend hotel....I reckon if you're just a couple it would be a lot of fun though

Good of them to advise you to change hotels, I think the gay conference hotels have quite a party atmosphere so maybe not the best for families with kids who need their sleep. The Royal Plaza is one I have heard about hosting these groups.
we've stayed at the Wyndham three times now and feel the standards have dropped, if you opt for that one though then ask for a junior suite at no extra charge that way you get bunk beds and a fridge. I've read on Tripadvisor that homewood suites is very good and you get an apartment type set up there so with 2 small kids that may be better than a hotel room with just 2 queen beds which is all that you will get at Crown Plaza or Rosen Plaza

WELL DONE TCD!!!:thumb: That's what I call customer service!!

Hi we've stayed at the Rosen Plaza and it is a lovely hotel however there are lots of conventions there and also a lot of business people that are attending confrences at the Orange County Convention Centre. It doesn't affect us during the day as we were usually out all day but it is a bit off putting when you get back at the end of the day looking a bit worse for wear in your shorts and t-shirts and the bar is full of very smart looking conventioneers!
never stayed at the Crown Plaza but always fancied it as it's near to I-Drive but not directly on it. Heard good and bad things about the Wyndham but again I've never stayed there so can't really comment.
Which ever you choose has got to be an improvement on what you had so I'm sure it'll be fine.
We stayed at the Wyndham last year, it's a lovely hotel and we had a fantastic room. You can check out some of the pics in my gallery.

TCD called us a couple of years ago saying exactly the same when we were booked into the Royal Plaza for Gay Days.
I was very impressed with their customer service. :)
Crowne Plaza Universal, definitely.
We have stayed here twice and love it. It is very clean and as already mentioned the beds are very comfy and is in a fab location.
Good on TCD. :-) The Sheraton Safari is a lovely hotel, but the Wyndham is really nice too. We were out there during Gay Day`s last year (May/June) and saw a lot of them walking round in red t-shirts or red vest tops. I had to tell our teenage boys to keep quiet as teenage boys can be very loud at times and I didn`t want any of the gay men and women to be offended.

Hi! I have stayed at both the Rosen Plaze and the Crowne Plaza. I loved them both but I think the Crowne Plaza has the edge on the Rosen Plaza. Like Tintin said the rooms are lovely and super clean. There is nothing at all to fault about it (and beleive me I am VERY fussy!!!). It is beautiul. Have a lovely time!!!!!

After reading all of your very helpful comments, we have decide to swap to the Crowne Plaza.
The Rosen plaza seems to be set up for adults and conferences but not kids.
we are staying in Sheraton safari for 1 week and then swapping to Crowne Plaza
Thanks for all your advice & thank you TCD

Great choice Rich!
We stayed at the Rosen Plaza for our honeymoon but its not really for kids. The Crowne Plaza was great with kids, nothing was too much trouble for them. They even got milk for our dd each night!!!
Have a wonderful holiday!

Can't help with the hotels but it's great that the tour company let you know about the Gay weekend thing. I'm not anti gay but wouldn't want to stay there with my kid, niece and sister in tow, either. I'd get sick of all the questions about why two men/ women are kissing holding hands, etc. I' don't even like to see hetro couples slobbering all over each other lol.
