Funny enough it was there both times we did this a couple of weeks ago, never gave it any thought, all other animals certainly looked real enough :-)) Or could it be the rock is air conditioned ????????? ;_` even the giraffe that took a liking to a guys hat 3 seats in front of us, just at the turn into the savanah :-)))

We saw the lion move last year when we went. The rock is airconditioned so he obviously likes to sleep there.
The lion is definitely real.

Yep, there is an area up there that has controlled temperature. We have a photo of the male lion on his hind legs scratching the tree.

LOL! No it isnt true. All the animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride are real (with the possible exception of "little red" in the back of the poachers van ;) )- but dont confuse it with the jungle cruise at Magic Kingdom -all the animals on this ride are animatronics!
Many people joke about the lion who does seem to spend most of his time asleep on his rock, but he is real!
Im not sure about the Ostrich eggs though - they havent hatched in the 9 years Ive been visiting AK :D

You were lucky to see the lion. went on the ride five times last year and all i saw was a tail. and that was only once.

LOL the Lion is very real .. they sleep for upto 20 hours a day so maybe this is why they are always in the same position on the temperature controlled rock at the top of the hill, usually just out of sight ;)
LOL at the ostrich Eggs :d:
