This disney bug is a killer.
Just wondering regarding a quick 3 day visit to DLP is it worth it ????????
Yes of course but the logistics :d: , I have free flights i can take with easyjet anywhere, did photo work for them, and Now we had tasted Florida, and booked to go back in October I was thinking of just me and DD 5 year old doing a flying visit to Paris ??? Is 3 days , 2 nights enough, for a good taster etc ???
Cheers
Dave
We went to DLP for my DD's 8th birthday in December 2005, and I have to say we were bitterly dissapointed!! The atmosphere is nothing like WDW, the french haven't grasped the concept of Disney magic! They're rather miserable, and a bit rude!!Plus it's very expensive, food costs a fortune! The characters are few and far between, The hotels are poorly themed, ours had cobwebs around the bedside lights, not part of the themeing!!3 days is more than enough, you only need 1 day at MK and a few hours at Disney studios, you'll be surprised how small they are compared to WDW !If you can get a trip that costs next to nothing, I'd say, go! but not if you have to pay full price, it's not worth it!! We have no desire to go back, even the children weren't impressed!

Mmmmmmmm had heard that before, BUT I commited the cardinal sin and just merely mentioned to DD we may pop over to see it :-((((((((
So I will have to root about for a nice cheap hotel near the park and use my free flight and get a cheap car, may just make it a 2 night visit.

its fine its just not Florida loads of people love it. I've never come across an unhelpful CM in DLP and trust me in MK Florida I have (he was called Randy and he didn't like disabled people one bit). Sorry rant over.

I love DLP - true, it has a different atmosphere to Orlando, but it's still magical and I would definately go back again... I would say 3 days is enough for a 'taster'. There is lots to see and do there and you should cover the parks fine in this time.

i went for 2 nights in June 2005 and it was great. It is very expensive to eat though. For a 5 year old two nights would be a real treat.
Ive been to WDW since my DLP trip and you really cant compare th two - I would go back to DLP definately, but not in summer hols or at a weekend - queues are tough.

Going for the 2 nights :-)) I am sure I will enjoy it, the time alone with my 5 year old DD will be nice without anything else, got my free flights :-)) so thats sorted, hiring a small car and staying in a small b&b type place near the park so just need tickets :-((((
All booked for June 5th and 6th, we get 3 full days for DLP and if do it before that time is up will visit Paris itself.
I go to DLP most years, even if it's just a one day trip for the quick fix factor. It may not be Florida, but it's still fun in its own way.
I'd strong suggest staying at one of the cheaper on-site hotels if you can, especially if it's only going to be for a couple of nights, as it is a bit more magical that way and cuts down on the to'ing and fro'ing (how DO you spell that?!). Maybe somewhere like the Sequoia Lodge or the Cheyenne (though the later is more of a boyish theme, but still good fun. Kids like the bunk beds)

We took or DD & DS to DLP and thouroughly enjoyed it. OK, it's not Florida (it rained for 2 days) but it was still fun & the kids loved it.
They are now hooked on Florida, so we probably won't go back.
Agree on the French though - not quite a Floridian welcome.

Oh yes, brand new parade in DLP and parade in Disney Studios too.

We loved DLP when we went in February. It isn't WDW, but if you go with an open mind i can't see how you can be disappointed. It is so much better than anything we have over here - standards, service, etc. It is expensive when you compare it to Florida but not when compared to Alton Towers, Chessington, etc. Book a character meal - can heartliy reccommend Inventions restaurant in the Disneyland Hotel - book earliest sitting and you will have the characters to yourself.
We're thinking of going back in October for another fix. See our trip reports below for some pics etc

We've been to DLP several times and although it's not Florida it's great for a fix!
For details on parades, shows, rides, food etc have a look at the following:

We love dlp obviously its not Florida but for a quick fix it is the best we can hope for. We live closer than you so we can just hope the boat across.
But I would say that for a 5 year old 3 days would be great she can see the parade is both parks and maybe see a character or 2.
AS MattF says if you compare it to floridait is way down there but if you compare it to anything we have in England it is miles above it.
Go have fun.
