Just a thought. Does anyone know anywhere good that can do eye tests and prescription glasses and sunglasses in Orlando? I presume it would be much better value than over here

Most of the malls have at least one optician, lenscrafters comes to mind.
They have problems understanding UK prescriptions, so it might be worth having a eye test.
Better choice of frames in the USA, prices on par really.

Walmarts have opticians (and so do Costco, if you have a card to get in there).

I'm not sure how their prices compare - I tried a couple of the mall opticians a few years and they seemed *very* expensive. I think most Americans get glasses using medical insurance so they don't pay the whole cost. They don't all do a 'while u wait' service, so that would be a bit iffy if the glasses didn't come back in time.

For something like this the price would have to be *hugely* cheaper to make me buy in the US. We used to get contact lenses there, but they're as cheap in the UK now.

Just a note - you Cannot buy contacts or prescription glasses without proper prescription. We're here for longer than planned (I got Pneumonia) and I'm running out of daily lenses and so tried to buy some - but I couldn't.
